On a different note, since it appears that cash money is the only way now to get a tourney off the ground, I hereby offer up $1.50 of my own dinero into the pot of the next CTF tournament.

Hmm, how legal is it to have an entry fee, then majority of the money raised goes to the winning team? I dont think this would be "gambling" as its skill of the player not luck of the dice. Maybe RAGEATHON 2 we could have $10 entry?

It is legal because it is not considered a game of chance. Although it is a video game, it is a game of skill and not one where luck/chance has the majority of the opportunity to determine the outcome.

I also read somewhere there are 4 oddball states that might have an issue with it but nothing that a little disclaimer couldn't fix.

Basically people have to donate to "Some Cause". Whoever wins these tournaments will be awarded cash for his/her/team's time invested in helping make the tournament function.

Small potatoes stuff unless we started having $10,000 prizes, in which case I would start participating myself.
