Could try this, flickering lights - however would have to make the lightning and the light flicker at the same time (meaning non-random time)

Damn, not Q3Map2 . Can't you use shaders to make the surface flicker from the lightning?

Can but might need to make duplicate textures
Ex) q1wall.tga - used in a room with roof open and used in a area where no roof is open. If apply shader they all will get lit. So will have to apply same texture with diff name for those areas - that and make shader match up with the lightning but highly doable
