I went ahead and bit the bullet and bought Rage for the 360. I like it so far. Only played for about an hour. Id like to see how the pc version looks though. I didnt think it would hurt to throw some money ID's way.
If you see 427 playing Quake thats me.

just watched the demo and im feeling it's a borderland clone (A Much better clone though)

        I just don't see originality anymore. :/

I'd like to hear some actual gamer reviews though!

Not yet (you pesky Yoo-nite-ed States-ians get it a few days before us in Yorp) but I'll be doing so at the first opportunity. I'm not on ATI.

It does remind me of Borderlands. I couldnt really get into Borderlands though. I only played Borderlands for about an hour and that was it.

I like it so far. Its like Fallout 3 except alot less RPG elements. I really enjoyed Fallout 3 also though. I went after the first Bandit camp with only a pistol but I enjoyed it. Id just knows how to make a shooter enjoyable I guess.(Most of the time)

Im thinking about getting the PC version just to check it out though.

The game is awesome. Combat is about as fast as Doom 3's, but enemies actually react to being shot (like enemies saying "Oh shit!" when you quickly kill wipe out the group they're in) and what you do while fighting them instead of charging forward no matter what like in almost every other game out there. The classic iD arsenal is in the game, which is surprisingly fun and effective against the human enemies that tend to hid behind things like in a normal shooter. Guy hiding behind a railing? Hit the wall he's near with a rocket and show him who's boss.

console graphic demo with fugly environmeshs that seem to not allow any non linear maps (its like a prerendered scene you can move in but only on given paths)

That second screenshot is way off the mark; the game looks nothing like that. I'm calling bull and guessing that someone's deliberately dialled down the video settings and/or done some image manipulation to try make it look bad. (Although admittedly there is too much bloom in it and an option to control that wouldn't go astray).

Here's what the Dead City looks like in 2011.

Can we cut the negativity please? Or save it for the Bethesda and/or Steam forums? The game is actually Really Very Good; I got a solid 28 hours play out of it (and missed a load of stuff so I'm due a replay).

Yes, there is a lot of negativity towards this game in certain corners of the internet. Some of it one feels might be justifiable (AMD/ATI owners are getting a raw deal, but anyone who's ever had any experience of developing an OpenGL program to run on AMD/ATI knows how cack their drivers are and how much trouble it is to get even basic stuff working right on them), but most of it is just pure childish trolling.

Ignore that - once you get the hardware problems sorted out (and remember that Quake looked and ran like ass on contemporary hardware when it was released too, Quake II was barely playable until the 3.12 patch, Doom 3 was a sluggish monster that needed 3 generations of hardware upgrades before it ran well, etc etc etc) it runs very very well.

The trick seems to be to not force any settings in your video card's control panel, ignore custom configs - the patch makes them irrelevant and they can do more harm than good - just download the patch and trust it to do the right thing, and don't even attempt to max it out. Yeah, you can max out resolution safely enough, but take everything else up gently until you find the happy balance - texture cache first, enable GPU transcoding if you're on NVIDIA, AF next (using the in-game menu, leaving your video card to application controlled - very important), then AA finally and only if you must.

                        Mad Brah????

Wow you played a demo and totally condemned it in its entirety. AND it was a console demo too? Damn, what games do you find good? Mario3??

I was going to wait to install it, but now I feel its time to weight in from the red camp , since I run crossfire I will have the most to contend with. From what I heard they've already released driver fixes for Rage, and I already have that downloaded as well.

on October 4th AMD released Rage Performance drivers , here

AMD Catalyst? - Rage Performance Driver

on October 7th AMD released AMD Catalyst 11.10 Preview Drivers ,

AMD Catalyst? 11.10 Preview Driver Version 2

I recommend anyone doing BF3 / RAGE gaming on AMD/ATI hardware from 6xxx series,5xxx series,or 4xxx series update their drivers.

EDITED : Wipe your drivers, THEN install the new drivers. This fixed all of my problems.including Crossfire Support!!!

Scratch that, what experience? Thats some glitchy fn ..... UPDATE downloading.

OOF, back to Witcher 2,ill leave this installed, and await this to finish downloading.

IMHO , the reason RAGE has lots of issue's,by only fault of focusing on more than exclusive PC title, because it was released on 360 and PS3, it has suffered PC polishing.

                              This doesnt help...
