I have a hard time with any statement like "The Fricking 'Golden Age' of Games." The problem with such a statement... no matter how good the game, or how it may have defined a time in your life. It's A GAME...
Adults need games every now and then, but when games become your way of life... Adults become: deluded, stupid, bad examples, & fucking retards.
Golden Age of Games? Games (Entertainment) are a part of balance, they're not a way of life.
The term is not even relevant to someone's life so I don't know what you're whining about. And to a lot of people, video games are their life. People win money off of tournaments and everything. So do some research buddy.

OOooo... that stung so bad... and here I am all butt hurt... golly...
If anyone wants to make it their life they're free to do so, & there's no quicker way to lose respect for yourself, your friends, and your spouse. Make money at it? Please... What percentage of gamers represent those who actually make money doing it? Far less than one percent; and that's barely worth noting.
I have far more respect for a game developer that knows what they are doing, who actually make or PRODUCE something; then someone who just wastes all the time of their life.
Yes... there's a word for that: Fool.
I let fools be fools, they do it very well.
"General Gaming," and "Gaming Professionally" isn't analogous to "Basketball vs. NBA," at least when playing basketball you get exercise and REAL respect with friends, whether you play professionally or not.
I think the "golden age" of games were some early concept ideas and most of them were not that great in the larger scheme of things like, as mentioned, Space Invaders.
Pac-Man isn't bad. Donkey Kong isn't bad. Is Chess or Monopoly "golden age" ... hmmm? Super Mario? Street Fighter? Tetris?
Am I the only one that finds Modern Warfare 3 to be a tedious "Counter-Strike" clone?
Am I the only one that finds Call of Duty Black Ops to be a tedious "Counter-Strike" clone with zombies?
I am so disappointed with modern games. They keep assembly-line manufacturing the same old shit again and again and we are supposed to think it is imagination.
Angry Birds probably could have fit nicely into a video game arcade in the 1980s.
I so much think corporate games are on the wrong track. Yet it is rather difficult to point out what is exactly on the "right track".

So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...

*Snicker*
"Pro-Gamer" ... snort. WTF is that? Really!
Somewhere, a loser living in Mommy's basement is supposed to be cool because he plays video games all day and can snipe with the best of them.
And the best our society can do is produce some people who actually aspire to be some Mommy's basement dweller?
Sure I can find a small (very small) amount of respect for ... who is that one chess dude? And maybe a small (very small) amount of respect for those World Series of Poker champion people.
Best at some video games? Sure I can find an equally small (very small) amount of respect for that. But I know there is a million to one ratio where the other 999,999 or so are ....
[complete that sentence however you like, the bottom line is this isn't usually much a contribution to society unless they are manually piloting armed drones to suppress extremists in third world countries and hey maybe we need more of those people ... I don't claim to be wise enough to know but maybe it is true.
Maybe we do need these video game all day people to develop a military assets for near-future control of robots and drones to suppress third world extremists.]
Don't criticize me too much because I don't have that much respect for some Spelling Bee World Champion ... dude my web browser can do all that spell checking for me and so can Microsoft Word or Open Office or Libre Office or whatever the Freebie Office is supposed to be these days --- anyway, I don't care about spelling.
Look I spelt this all wrong and -- guess what --- I don't care!!!!
Who cares if you can spell words none of us normal people would ever use in our own lifetime? Humans make up language. I'll take the physics phenom every day of the week because that guy can help us send a probe to Uranus, or Grim Warlock's anus or at least someone's anus.
We don't need the spelling bee champion for jack shit.

Correct spelling and knowledge of your own language at least is a sign of culture. Culture is good. I never use spell checkers.
It is also a sign of respect for others to bother and post in correct language.
I know of forums where the spelling rules are enforced and you're booted if you type in all caps, never use the shift key, don't bother to spell correctly and so on. While I think this a little over the top, I can see the reasoning behind it.
We definitely do not need drones bombing people at funerals in some forsaken part of Pakistan. We need values, honour and valour and culture and respect for each other.
If someone else wants to play a lot of video games, that is not my problem, and I won't tell another man what to do and how to live his life.

Really? Seems that half your post is directed to insult game developers.

There's a word for you too: troll. Video games are peoples lives because they get money off of it by winning tournaments in events. Surely you must be aware of that? If not then you're probably a kid. And people that don't get money off of it play it because they enjoy it.

No one said anything about a spelling championship.

I wonder if a forum exists where excessive LOL LOL LOL 'ing is a bannable offense.
Are my posts ever directed towards anyone in particular? Not really. I just rattle off thoughts based on the subject at hand and where the wind takes me.

Grim, there have been other posters in the past here that have been banned for getting into piss fights with other members on the forum.
It seems trouble follows wherever you go, you seem to like to amp up the atmosphere with a feisty attitude. Please take this as a warning to tone it down.. and just focus on the discussion.. because most of what the other poster was saying was directed at the subject at hand, not at you personally, yet your first rebuttal you decided to go right at him.
We're all mature guys here (I hope), we got past the Omi phase a long time ago.

He told me stick "it" for pointing out a fact, then assumed that I played video games all day because I said something and said I'll become "deluded, stupid, bad examples, & fucking retards". I don't see why he's freely to act so rude towards me and I'm not allowed to be back.

His first post had nothing aimed in your direction, he was speaking generally.
The term is not even relevant to someone's life so I don't know what you're whining about. And to a lot of people, video games are their life. People win money off of tournaments and everything. So do some research buddy.
Look how your response is directed at him:
"I don't know what you're whining about"
"so do some research buddy"
These are just standoffish comments because you're unhappy with him disagreeing with the video you posted. There is absolutely zero reason there for you to communicate that way with him, and I'm going to continue setting a standard here for all people to speak to each other in a certain manner, and not instigate.
Also, I deleted the other comments in the other thread after you made note of it, I missed those.
