Blood posts an interesting question: I wonder if they'll create a multiplayer backend for the ps3/360 ports? It would be cool to have an opencoop style mode to throw down with my console buddies. Vanilla DM always felt really limp to me in Doom3 but Coop would rock.

It did wonders for Warcraft II, when they repackaged it into the Battle Net Edition. I played the shit out of that repackage

This has been done since the dawn of time, in other words. The promised graphical tweaks are just icing on the cake here.
        Unfinished Business is freely downloadable.

Imagine having to buy a car twice if you wanted the version with the radio. It would be the nice thing to do if the company sold the radio separately. This is just common sense. I hope id does just that.

It is OK to criticize companies btw, they're not some sort of saints. I'm not saying "id sucks" like so many people do today on the internet, please don't lump me in with those. That's not what I'm saying. But id is not sacrosanct either.

I've dealt with that dark temptation of making a retail re-issue of one of my older games, AuSable.

I had a publisher offer me a deal and a crew to cash in on a game I had up till then distributed as freeware. The temptation was incredible but looking at how they did business and how their "ports" looked, and the fact that they'd have ownership of my IP from then on out was just too much. So I walked.

Depends on what day you ask me how I'll feel about it. The game does have a pretty decent fanbase, but I think a huge part of the appeal is how it's free and minimal.

Anyways, I can see where GB is coming from. It's a raw deal to have to doll out cash again just to get the extra goodies for something one's already paid for. It would be neat if id/bethesda offered a deal for owners of the PC version already. I remember when ut2004 came out if you mailed the front page of the manual to ut2003 to Epic Games they'd send you a rebate for like..half the price.

          THAT.. was classy

IF the changes are of any quality then I will probably buy it. Though, I'm SO disenchanted at the moment. So many recent titles are such garbage. I feel like the people who make these games don't even like gaming, or even slightly care.

I mean damn, even RAGE has stupid fov and stupid controls. WTF WILLITS, you were the creative director! And TODD HOWARD, forget the lame fov, did it not dawn on you that PC gamers may want to use their MOUSE AND KEYBOARD to play Skyrim. Though, to your credit, it was awful nice of you to include that small feature in the first patch.

I've also bought Deus Ex: Human Revolution, MW3, Alice: Madness Returns, Section 8, Serious Sam: BFE, Crysis 2, etc... they're all trash for one reason or another (DRM, poor coding and/or porting, bad story, script, voice acting, GAMEPLAY, etc.)

The ONLY games I'm looking forward to at the moment are Guild Wars 2 and Torchlight II. These companies seem to be the last vestiges of the art form.

I feel like no one knows how to make a decent game anymore

As far as gameplay is concerned, it felt very slow and controlled whereas the previous games felt more sandbox and chaotic. The environment looked bland and washed out. The previous games were colorful and took place in a variety of environments. Also, Sam didn't feel like Sam; the Sam I knew doesn't say "Fuck", "Shit", "God Damnit" or "Jesus Christ".

I wasn't looking for a "Serious Sam: The Third Encounter", but BFE felt nothing like a Serious Sam game to me.

Yeah. It's an id title, so there is some solid design to it. If you like it is another question.

Games that have 50% or more of my screen occupied by Black aggrivate me,so I would definately end up cranking the brightness/contrast/gamma.

It's not really like that. People make a big thing out of the supposed darkness. D3 is usually not 50% black. Watch some youtube vids to see how dark it really is.

I can't tell anyone what games to play though, but a lot of people make stuff sound worse than it is. Pointless whining is en vogue in the gaming community.

Doom3 is not anywhere near as dark as people say it is. Also turning up your brightness/gamma won't make it less dark, it will just make what is black appear gray and will not offer any greater visibility.

Actually I remember an ammo shortage.. but that was on hard difficulty.

But that was ok.. because.. it.. was.. on.. hard.... like it's supposed to be.

Maybe BFG edition will be fullbright lighting for the newbs on the consoles.
