Quake II 64 TC?

Ports should never be a place of judging a game.Ports always cut corners is a safe statement overall. I personally bought Quake II, and wondered WHAT THE FUCK DOES THIS HAVE TO DO WITH QUAKE1.
GJ Id Software. Still waiting on that fucking new-founded-Quake1-you-didnt-promise-us SEQUEL.

Im honestly conflicted about Quake VS Quake II
They both have their pros and cons. I really cant decide which I like better.
As for sequels, I doubt we'll ever get a true sequel to the first quake. Then again, with Carmack saying hes sick of Strogg, who knows.
Oh, and the only reason it was called Quake II is because the name they wanted was copyrighted. Youde think they could have come up with something. With their millions, Im gonna go out on a limb and say they could have afforded a couple marketing guys.

The official story at the time was that "Quake II" was just their working name for the project - there's plenty of evidence in Carmack's .plan files to back that up. Late enough they discovered that the more suitable names they wanted weren't available, and it was very much an 11th hour decision to just fall back on the working name.

Personally I've always thought that Quake II was just a flat-out better game, but Quake has a certain charm and roughness to it that it's more polished successor lacks.

couldnt disagree more on that. quake2 is fun, but imo quake1 is so much better in every way.

quake2 feels kinda generic, while quake1 really stands out with its interesting mix of scifi and medieval and with its weird bizarre lovecraftian monsters and such

Quake 1 has the more interesting settings/visuals. Im sure of that much, but thats it.
