Oh, I plan to. This little beast is amazing, might not run a lot of what I'd lilke it to, but it's incredibly stable. I've never really cared for intel myself, as good as they are, AMD just seems better for gaming.

Still don't know what GPU I should get, I'm thinking Nvidia GTX 680 or 7XX series, but that's a LOT of money. Any suggestions? Being how I'm using it heavily for a lot of video processing for hours on end and a lot of high end gaming, I can suck it up and save to get a high end card + correct cooling since I'm going to need to. But do you find either brand to be particularly better these days? (This is the first computer I'll have built since my fossil, so I'm really out of touch with hardware.)

Nvidia and AMD are both good, naturally you will find AMD a bit cheaper. They also offer "Never Settle Reloaded" NEVER SETTLE: Reloaded , which is free games I went with the 7970 and don't regret it one bit.

I haven't bought Intel or Nvidia in ages, so I can't speak from experience with the newer stuff.

At this rate, being that I'm on the HD4350 I'll end up moving up within Radeon anyway, since I don't care about PhysX and there doesn't seem to be much difference. Though I've only used nvidia as far as new stuff goes. So it's my previous experience against my current experience. xD

Still, thanks for the info, I'll probably get the AMD so I get free games xD (I really want Blood Dragon anyway)

Traffic to this site is down 60% since January and it never decreased month-to-month before.

In January, I decided it wasn't worth my time dealing with any more forum morons like yourself.

I'm more explaining this to others --- whatever your problem is, there is something seriously wrong and it isn't worth my time --- nor anyone elses --- to interact with you personally. So this post isn't targeted to you, I'm targeting potentially anyone else who still actually cares.

I'll help doing news if people want me. I have a pretty good grasp of what's new in Quakeworld / Gamerworld and I have a proven track record of regular writing / blogging. Plus I'm able to do good screenshots.

I have offered to help moderating before, but I believe as an adherent of strict European-style moderation (regarding hate speech and spam) I might not be too popular as a mod.

I'm a forum regular since 2006 though. And I don't play on public servers so anything going down there wouldn't influence me.

Edit: I have also been a news writer for Quake Expo (2008, IIRC).

Writing a news item doesn't need to take more than 30 minutes tbh, one just needs to look at func etc to see that there is lots of new content that did not appear on quakeone.com for some reason. Not even the new maps or the new Quake wiki activity has been news'd.

Making a nice screenshot takes 10 minutes. Writing "Sock has a new map blah blah..." takes another 15 minutes. Someone just has to do it.

I think the forum is fine - don't fix what isn't broken. I also think the colour scheme, although it's pretty ugly, is part of the site's established identity so IMO any changes to the visual appearance should be subtle. I could see a new banner with a bigger Quake logo and a more recent screenshot (perhaps showing off pretty water or lava) being beneficial.

Still, having a halfway current / regular news stream with pretty pictures might go a long way. Right now it looks dead.

Regarding moderation, I haven't seen that many problems on the forum in the last 6 months. I don't know what goes on on the servers, but the forum seems OK compared to what we saw earlier. And that's coming from me, who's a self confessed euro-commie.

I'd suggest having some very simple anti-hate speech and anti-spam rules and enforce them reasonably from time to time, that should do. It's very possible to have rules without turning into North Korea. No one wants that. There is a middle ground.

I think the situation is salvageable.
