RuneQuake Tournament in the oven!

...if you guys don't mind the idea I would love to suggest a 1v1 tournament in RuneQuake. Group stage, knockout stage, quarter final, semi final. Even if I got knocked out I would love to watch games, I think others might feel similarly.

This style of tourney was like no quake game I have played before. Esp the first map. It was utter chaos and death! hahah. I would be interested in more focused RQ battles: Royal vs Sole (oooh). PieFace vs Mindz. Dee vs Polarite, etc... and then of course my ultimate goal Dee vs Royal!!!!!!!!!

It sounds achievable but the biggest hurdle is likely to be getting enough people to buy in to the idea and maintaining a level of interest throughout the various 1v1 events.
It sounds like Mindz is already up for it which is a good start, but whilst we turn our focus to FFA10 maybe try sounding out others in the community to see if there's a definite demand for it. If enough people want to go via the 1v1 route I'm sure something could be worked out... ...maybe

If yes do you remember the Rune game like 2-3 months ago at shmack.net:26000 on map E1M7 when you 'remove-frags' 3 time on a row at 49 frags and still won it?? I'll share this demo asap!

Sorry for the no-show! I upgraded to an SSD hard drive, installed windows fresh this morning, and decided to try a new firewall called Comodo. It locked my computer down for about 45 minutes when I tried to load quake

I am willing to put my shoulders under that RQ 1v1 tournament ,only if enough people are joining of course.

I'm a bit busy with a dev project this week but if I get a minute I'll try and post something on the RuneQuake forum to see if anyone is interested.

Btw there is already a 1v1 tournament coming up after FFA10 , called King of Aerowalk.

Shall we just award that to Peg now and move on to the next one?

You forgetting about something here? You cant award a winner if he has not played everyone on Aerowalk. We US players may not play Aerowalk like the EU players do but you cant exclude anyone from beating peg on Aerowalk. I am sure a true 1v1 tourney will bring some talented players from both sides of the world. The only thing i dont want to hear in any tournament is "im drunk". No excuses for getting beat.

Have any cold hard facts that lefty is returning to quake and actually bringing back BDA? 2 years of emails to lefty and not one email replied to. So i dont believe this until otherwise proven.

It was only meant in jest WL, hence the not 1 but 2 smileys at the end of the sentence. It was just a little humour primarily between Pol and myself as Peg and Confy can usually be found playing one map in particular, Aero. Obviously I'm not excluding anyone from anything and it wasn't meant to be taken seriously or as some sort of slur on anyone else's ability. As far as the drunk reference is concerned that certainly wouldn't include myself.

With regards to BDA, I didn't say that a tournament is going to take place. I was merely postulating on the prospect of such an event being fun as it was always a fun mod IMHO. Lefty has been playing Quake recently but my understanding is that despite his best efforts to try and find it he no longer has a copy of the BDA mod. Let's hope Dolemite will be able to come up with something post October.

Lefty and I are good friends offline. He and Mr. Burns approached me about reviving the BDA mod which IEEE, Lefty, and I have put countless hours into. It will happen when I can make time to do a few code revisions. My apologies to the community for being so incredibly busy. But yes, this will happen.

If this is the case have tony contact me on here if he can. We spoke 2+ years ago. He use to come to my lan parties back in the late 90s.. lost contact with him after 2002 when i left quake and the internet behind to pursue my career.
