some little homo has deliberatley stolen 3 of my 4 aliases. if you ever see my RaVen X alias, Lord Arthas alias, or even my Death Knight alias on Quake these days, chances are it isnt me. this prick has duplicated my aliases perfectly. he hasnt done so with Ghost Stalker just yet. im not sure exactly what to do about that, but im pretty sure that name stealing isnt exactly smiled upon in the quake community. advice would be appreciated

If this person is doing so on Shmack, take a screenshot of the scoreboard showing the person's name and a screenshot of the "ping" command which will show the person's IP along with your name and send it over to Slot Zero on http://www.runecentral.com - he'll take care of it on Shmack.

as for name copiers, it is definately a pain in the ass. Some people ignore it and take it as a compliment,other people like Bank throw out some bullshit like "dont have so many aliases" like it actually would help matters any (if someone wants to forge your quake name,they will do it,regaurdless if you have 1 or 5,so how does the number of aliases you have pertain to whether someone wants to be a dick and forge your name or not?)

Like Sole said,rather than complain about the problem,just snap a screen shot,or mark the time you caught the player using your name and the name that was being used,either will work fine,then email/ post a message over at www.runecentral.com (??) politely asking slotzero to help you resolve the problem.

Didn't we come to the conclusion when these stories started that the names used in quake are actually fictional and no "one" person can call claim to them? There could be 10 P.I.T.A.'S and if the games stats were still up from way back when you would see that there were. Most of us know to check the IP's more so when the person acts out of character. Once you change a name I would assume you have tossed/abandoned the old one in preference for your new one. Most of these names are NOT original to game play. Prime Example. Should the name Thresher be used by anyone other then Thresher? Has been, we've all seen it. Until you legally Trademark it the name doesn not belong to you. If you can afford to trademark it and pursue the legal action for such offenses. Good for you.
