The chance of someone having the alias Bank is fairly likely. The chance of that same person passing off as me is unlikely.

Let's consider that I now have several aliases, some of which are very generic. (Like Bank for that matter)

The chance of someone having that alias (copied or otherwise) is likely. The chance of that same person passing off as as my is still unlikely. BUT-

Now that you've retired names you cannot be angry when someone uses them. Especially if they're outrageously generic.

You have one name. That's it. There is no room for others.

hah,dont put yourself on a pedastool that dont exist.I know im superior to you,I've been playing Quake since it came out.I had never heard of you until QuakeOne.com went online,in my book (which doesnt count for anything,except to me btw) your a nobody and will always be a nobody.The difference between you and me,is I've spent my time in-game with the various community's,you on the other hand,to my knowledge,havent Also,how I spend my time (what time I DO spend on the net,on these forums,or in-game as hpb is my buisness and I'll spend it as I see fit.I play less than 5 hours a week,probably less than 10hours a month,the rest of that time is spent helping take care of my family.So dont talk to me about spending my time wisely,you newb pipsqueak =o

There is a difference between using a generic name and someone using an identical replica of a generic name.When someone identically replicates a name's:colors/letters/numbers completely intact and reflects someone elses use of the name,then that can't be classified as "pure coincidence" , I agree with PITA and somewhat you Bank,about having multiple names and retiring old ones, but that doesnt justify someone trying to stir shit up or cause problems with any individual in the community like DeathKnight , by replicating any of the names he has created in his own style/format. I even think its a bit pointless to care about someone using a name that <insert player here> used 1-3+ years ago,regaurdless of its age. The only names that should be concerned about are the names that you currently use.But , then again,its not your opinions or my opinions that matter,the only opinion that matters is DeathKnights and if he doesnt like the idea of someone replicating/using his quake names , then he has a right to complain (but to the proper authority,which would be Slot Zero, or whatever Administrator to whatever server the offense(s) occur on.

This doesn't seem to be a continual problem with one player though. Seems this person just picks them at random.. see's if he gets a spark.. if he does then runs with it. I don't think a game admin should have to babysit if it isn't out of control and truly disruptive to the game. Most of us know a persons character and when it is out of place we look to see what the hell is going on. IF you don't keep an IP log then the blame is on you since this has been in use for years. You can spot a P.I.T.A. Anywhere. At least most of us can and were not that easy to fool these days. Give us some credit. sheesh.
