Look, everyone has their own opinion to how a server should be run, what maps should be played etc. But honestly, i'm tired of everyone's complaining. I CANNOT please everyone. This person thinks this, that person thinks that... If you don't like it go somewhere else. And phenom i hate to say this... but this server has nothing to do with you now. So please get over this fact. If you want to start up your own server to replace rage, then we can call it your server and its no longer affiliated with me or hdz.

I can't control the map situation. If people prefer to still play dm3 because they're not tired of it and think its the best map out there, then majority wins. If you can't win a vote on a new map, then you are shit out of luck...

As for local admins having the urge to kick people. I'm kicking people for reasons i think are deserving. If vibe can't control his mouth, he gets a mute. If he continues to talk via his "name changing" then he also gets a kick. And me muting phenom is being "me not picking favorites". If I only muted vibe, then he'd say why didnt you mute phenom then. I do think vibe was more out of line though. All of this kicking is to make the game more fun. It is completely lame to have this quake drama inside on quake. Just leave it to your irc, e-mail, forums, aol, msn, yahoo, whatever. I'm tired of seeing it inside quake. If you have a problem with this, then talk to me outside of quake instead of just blasting posts here on this forum.

I will look into people advertising other servers and games if this seems to be a problem with you. Again, I'm not opposed to people giving me suggestions or opinions. But when people just whine on here and complain about my server while playing, that's not going to get anything resolved or go in your favor.

People need to grow up and just play the game and have fun. This is a 10 yr old game people. bleh... that's all (i'm sure i'll get grief on this now).

2:cc'ing during an even-teams match

both of which i have repeatedly kicked him for. Rage is not RuneQuake , you cant connect and decide "im going to play right now",to hell with the current teams status,and whether anyone minds if I cc.

MindZ, those are also deserving reasons. Mindz is doing a great job for rage. He is trying to keep good gameplay intact and not let anything get out of hand. I know Phenom, you have voiced your opinions over too many admins, but in all honestly there arent that many. R00k and Bam have admin because they need it for testing his mod. Y5 and I have it to run the server. But really the in-game admins are Mindz, Asc, and Dave. Chad no longer has admin. Again, stop complaining to me in quake about this. Instead talk to me outside of quake, via a private chat and i'm more open to listen to suggestions and ways to improve the server.

I agree, this is not Runequake. People are confused to what server rage is supposed to be (public or private). In reality its neither. It's a public server, but it's a pick-up server mostly. Right now the cax mod is not setup perfectly to allow this. But if people join in a 2v2 or 3v3, etc and don't even ask, thats ground to kick them out to preserve the current game. If 2 people cc in to keep it balanced but still don't ask I still think thats wrong. If you at least ask, then its cool.

Once again... any complaints you have, bring them to me directly. And don't post on here thinking that is going to get anything done. It's easy to think that running a server is not that hard, but i get a lot of different opinions everyday. I can't make everyone happy.

It IS impossible to please everyone.

There needs to be a server dedicated to custom maps so choice enters the equation. And there will (the server is active and functional right now, but is not ready to be announced) be so this problem will be solved.

Some players prefer to only play DM3, there is nothing wrong with that.

Some players are bored sick of DM3.

You can't have 2 distinct groups of players on the same server and both groups of players being satisfied. This isn't possible.

So really this problem is to blame on the fact that all players have more or less settled on a single CA server, not the administration of the server.

Also the result of a single server being essentially the 1 and only server for CA places undue pressure on those running the server because the effect of banning a player essentially makes them unable to play.

Wow, thanks for shitting all over my thread. It was supposed to be in a jokey mood, but I guess you couldn't see that. This is probably the same reason you kick people for cc'ing into a game with even teams: you guys can't see the game for what it really is, a game.

Anyway, like Baker said. theres 2 types of players in the CA realm. The Hardcore's (DM3 only) and the fun players(Just wants to play and have a fun time). I've played on both sides and there been a better experience with more mature player on the fun players side.

The cc'ing thing is complicated. I find it very annoying when 2 players CC to the same team, for example, but it is also very boring to wait up to 8 rounds for a new game to start.

I took it as a joke when I read it, but few people have a sense of humor, particularly vis.

It's your server, vis, so you do what you do. It's us who have to adjust to what you want, but don't pretend like you don't ban people cause your in a foul mood sometimes.

I cc'd once, not thinking, just trying to beat the end of the round. You kicked me, which I totally understand, I came back on. I wasn't gonna complain, I knew right away why I was kicked, but you chose to wrote:

I thought that was rude, so I went, "Don't swear, that's not very mature"

You go, "Are you serious?"

I go, "ty"

And I'm banned for a day or so. Banned! For that! Hardly even worth a mute (which I didn't even get, which is weird since I am not one who harrass's anybody on rage)

But as I said, it's your server, and if you want to take it to extremes and ban for a little tongue in cheek remark (which I felt you deserved for your particular attitude), then go for it.

But don't sugar coat your own attitude on a public blog, just go on an keep your fanatic ways in private.

And I chose to respond because this is the single most thing that too many people continue to do and not learn. I am sorry for the fact that I responded negatively to you, but then you also talk back to me as if what you did before was okay. So that is why I banned you.

People once again trying to make me look like the bad guy. Remember, if you never cc'd and if you "thought" about these things first, we would have never had this problem to begin with.

I thought this thread was a humorous one at first, even got the Cheer's theme stuck in my head...

Granted Im not interested in any form of CA, its like RA meets CounterStrike but somehow without fun... ...and yeah Im tired of the same maps in general, dm3/dm6 repeatedly. I like random single player maps - for the simple reason that theyre different and challenge me to be more creative, not just get better at rocket juggles and airshafting.

Granted, a variety of servers is what we need in any case, some people only want to play dm3 and dm6 and nothing else ever. More servers, please! Choosy shubs choose a variety of gametypes and levels!
