My computer completely and utterly died. Used this p.166 we still had around while mine was broke, but it couldn't even handle solitaire, hah. Irc wouldn't stay connected for more than 1 second before it froze. Besides,

1) I was sick of all the constant girl squabbles on quake, so it wasn't fun anymore (especially once taxi was unjustly accused of cheating and we got DNS attacked (I assume thats what it was, as I don't claim to be an expert on such things) for defending him... so I was happy to just leave all that type of bullshit behind. My computer broke (unrelated) shortly after, so I was just like... whatever.

2) I needed to find a job right away and have been working and doing other stuff, so I was simply too busy.

3) My eyes needed sunlight for a change away from gaming and university

My computer is finally fixed, but I only play the odd time now. If you want to discuss the universe or whatever, let me know

But, being packeted as well as all the other ego bullshit going on ALL the time (which seems to still with all the nonsense forum posts [rage/dredd] etc.) was getting boring and repulsive, so maybe my computer broke at a good time. And, I already know how you use psychological mind games while you quake to piss people off or get them off their game, it never really bothered me, and you explained it once before as well to me on IRC. At least when you stop quake, the spew out of your mouth ends and we talk about more interesting and civilized things Some people take everything way to seriously and prolong it forever thereafter in pointless arguments, but it is easy to get sucked into that trap. I understand that, as I have at times been suckered in as well, but there comes a point where some people have to realize it's a friggen game and to just let it go.

The person who accused him was very irate with me for like 2 weeks for not banning him without proof. However, he now apologized and admitted he was wrong, if it's any consolation.

I just meant in general everywhere, that thing with you didn't even cross my mind ... (I was involved in that too, so my point 'getting suckered in is easy' I guess applied there, so I understand why you thought I meant that)

What I'm saying is how serious people take this is comical and disgusting (to the point that one has to flex their packeting skills)... or, for example, something like a clan match can actually lead to month long spats, when you would think friendly competition would be beneficial for the community (clearly not every clan match ends this way, but some do). Obviously the 90000 post arguments on quakeone is an example too. A real man would ltry to 1up himself on the server instead, where talking a little smack and showing their skills is more appropriate. We both learned that arguing on here was pointless, and it only took us a couple posts and a short private convo on IRC to settle our differences.

I guess some people use quake as a means for power, since they don't have any anywhere else, or some people just have a big ego in general that they can't resist the urge. It's much easier to flaunt it from the tips of fingers on keyboards, knowing they will never meet many of the people from the internet.

Also, human nature and the mundane mind seem to love drama, whether most guys will admit it or not ("Soap operas are for emotional females..." they'll say).. so maybe there are those who secretly love all the chaos that goes on around here. It's really no different than most communities in that regard -> Drama/gossip/spats.
