let's ban foqer for spamming(2)
Also, what makes people spam that much is the fucking post count, since people can get new ranks by posting more stuff. If there were no ranks, people would not spam... or at least spam less.
Well, I think you shouldn't just put an end to the ranking system, but only "important" people could get 'em. E. g. :
Baker - rank: "Forums admin"
Canadian*Sniper - rank: "WhiteHot's Programmer"
R00k - rank: "QRack programmer"
And so on...
They did nice stuff for Quake, so they deserve a rank. Not useless posters like me and some other people.
Sorry for any mistakes in the ranking :/Last edited by joao93; 08-07-2007, 02:24 PM.

I myself wouldn't even have the "admin" title in a perfect world and originally Yellow's idea what to have the admin title be "Here to serve" which is what it was on one of the prototype sites.
By the way, I am NOT the forums admin. There is no such thing. Solecord, Yellow and I try to manage things we each do well, but there is no difference between us other than that and the fact that Sole has final say on things because he provides the actual server the QuakeOne.com site is run on.Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.
So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...

I'm not spamming, and if I was, I wouldn't be doing it for rank. I'm already Chthon, which is the best normal rank you can get around here.

I still don't know how I feel about this..Steam is one of the small reasons why I play Quake so much online today as it is.
1.) Quake and Quakeworld have some of the most hilarious people.
2.) I see no one putting <their name>(no sound) or any weak excuses for sucking(although I might of saw it once and it was lame).
3.) Most battles on the servers are fair.
4.) I rarely see anyone complaining.
Now as for Steam in general, there are some small community mods with fun people and good fair playing servers. Then Valve can also be unreliable, like their shitty version of HLDM:Source..they left the rag doll physics so crappy. They even leave hl1 into your registry even if you didn't download it or anything related to it! I also think people who bought the id games should be able to download them for free on Steam and have it check for them being installed on the computer or something. Hey, maybe this is a good way for id to rake in some cash for awesome games in the future
meh, Valve and Steam still rockLast edited by Trickle; 08-09-2007, 06:00 PM.

To answer your first question, they have both. Quake, Quakeworld, and GLQuake, GLQuakeworld.
To answer your second question, yes there is the id1 folder, however since I just got the game I'm not sure what exactly is able to be customized, but the folder is there.
Hope that helps, I'll be sticking around if you folks don't mind a complete quake newb bugging youI might ask for advice as to how I should set my game up to play properly or what not.

The originality of Quake and its mods still stay true today. Steam's most populated servers are those of modern combat warfare type of games/mods. The customization and flexibility of Quake can mean of endless possibilities(gotta love open-source). Steam offers some great games and such..but of course the majority of players lean towards blah Counter-Strike. thats probably one minor flaw of Steam..the amount of games and crap..a lot can be left behind. you can't top Quake. Its bizarre and unexplained plot..its monsters and environments. When I play games, I want to witness or interact with more things out of the ordinary. who wants to play ww2 games all the time? tactical realistic combat and all that can be fun once in a while..but something gripping and out of this world can be a blast. Playing coop on NetQuake or Quakeworld just gets better and better(its so much fun TF). Of course theres some newer fps games that have some of that like F.E.A.R. and The Darkness. Bottom line, Steam can be a blast at times(playing hl2 deathmatch, Synergy, PVK II)..but Quake and Quakeworld will always offer its freedom and old school styled fast gameplay.
