Can I ask you now to please tell me namely from which freshman textbook is that discussion of argument styles taken? That idea is entirely new to me. Wouldn't you agree that it is better to elaborate than to have had insultingly over-simplified to say that anyone who praises Master Splinter is just as much a conniving feces-chucker as he is?

I had "arguing styles" in Statistics 145. I don't remember the textbook's name.

I know you want people to get along and trust each other, and the real issue here is not how much to trust Kimp but how to fairly handle his ongoing unacceptable behaviour.

It is said, "nature abhors a vacuum." Kimp's and Master Splinter's conspicuous dysfunctionality has somehow managed to occupy the vacuous heads of several people here all the way to the point where it has rendered them mentally paralyzed. This is what's truly pathetic. I hope they come to their senses soon.

Well as far as how to handle behavior .. I'll quote the equal rights activist on this "Either equal rights for everybody or no rights for anybody" I feel that this applies with the topic. I infer that you wanted to make a point about the difference between information theory and systems theory, but I was unclear about the meaning of some of your statements. Additionally, I'm happy to accept your greater point even though the specific assertion that facts do not control the future is patently absurd because systemically, factual occurrences can alter the scope of signal changes in causal loops. If, however, you meant to say that facts are indefinably deterministic, I entirely agree with that. I also agree that systems theory is a much more comprehensive and useful representation of what's going on in the world and would add that the issue isn't whether we value advancement over truth, but how much responsibility each of us takes for the truth about how our own choices and actions advance each person and the society. Of course an ethics governs this, and I advocate Kantian ethics over Utilitarianism. But I'll suspend that for now.

Calling Master Splinter imaginative is like calling a 7 year old imaginative because the kid screams and yells crazy things in the middle of his grocery store temper tantrum because he didn't get the useless piece of plastic on the shelf. Master Splinter isn't imaginative, he's merely willful. And most people aren't entertained, they're rubber-necking. In the battle between the imagination and the will, the imagination wins.
