Site: "No Drama" Rule? Yes|No

Gaming has always been about Drama but... even with that said sometimes it can go too far and longer then it should. Simple moderation should suffice. Lock it when you need to.

This. A bit of "robust interaction" is always a good thing, and the last thing anybody wants is an atmosphere where people are terrified of saying anything at all. But when it gets to a point where it's dominating the forum, overspilling into other threads, not contributing anything to the community (potentially giving it a bad rep even), and clearly between a limited subgroup of very few people who are airing grudges or arguments in public, it's time to put the foot down and say "stop". This would require a reasonably clear definition of what's meant by "drama" of course. I'd take it from Baker's OP that something along these lines is part of what's intended, so on that understanding I'd vote yes.

(Edit to add: by the way, I think the second option might be a bad choice of words. It's perfectly possible to have a free discussion WITHOUT the type of "drama" I've just described here, and it should probably be emphasised that this needn't be about a choice between one extreme or the other. Nobody would argue that "free speech" gives you the right to walk to a stranger in the street and scream abuse in their face, would they?)

Many other sites have a "no drama" rule and simply don't permit the kind of arguing that we seem to have had lately in the forums.

There has always been arguing here and some of this isn't so new, but it seems like the sole reason that some people come to the forums is to participate in "drama" involving personal attacks or attempts to antagonize others.

What makes this different than in the past is in the past most of the arguing might have to do with at least something that had to do with Quake and these recent arguments just appear personal.

Should be have an "No Drama" Rule and disallow that type of activity from the forums?

I think it would be easier to reduce the drama if the crappy soap-opera topics were moved to CHAT0RAMMA and dont show up in the NEW POSTS result. Someone starts a valid thread about a match at a certain time, next thing kXiXmXpX is trying to takeover. But that in part is over too.

Tough question, as it has many answers. My opinion is that some of the drama is indeed fun to read. However, some of it makes me say to myself, "who the hell is this douche". I think moderation is key, goes without being said anyhow. Quake wouldn't be Quake without drama.

One thing that does annoy me though, and so many of you are guilty of it. I'll join a server (yes, of course, CA, on dm3). And how many years have we all played this map? You will STILL find people bitching about the same redundant things. There's only so many things that can happen on that map, and for some of the players to STILL bitch on that map is so ridiculous.

Anyhow, drama free can be good or bad I guess.
