Hello, I recently purchased Quake off of Steam, downloaded nQuake and I am thoroughly impressed with the detail level. I used to play Quake 2 back in the day, but I must say that Quake has a higher level of competition online than Q2.
Up to this point i am on the 3rd episode, only went online twice and sucked pretty hard. Takes a while to get used to a real game, not the slow and sluggish games of today.

Thanks, it's nice to see that a small decent community exists. The 3000+ server games (Counter-Strike) get old after a while.

Yeah, I noticed that too, today's games can be pretty slow...
Like Battlefield 2142, it's pretty slow.

sup im metchsteekle and..well...ummm...i never really got to play quake before [i know, its a sin] but when i got some SW for it (and dos-box to play that SW) it made every other fps game mot fun (accept for doom that is). so now i havjoined this sight to play w/others...but i still only hav SW, and i am hopefully getting tha full versiton soon[if my friend dosent spend the money on weed that is]

No need to use dosbox to run Quake, download a modern engine and if there is an opengl32.dll in your Quake folder delete it or rename.

I'd recommend starting with GL ProQuake (mostly due to it's wide video card compatibility):

And if that works you can explore they mysterious worlds of different improved Quake clients like Qrack, DarkPlaces and beyond.

it also helps not having to type "mount f f:\documents\doom\quake_sw, f:\>" evrytime i wanna play at school

I was on Mplayer and played quake on and off. Not sure if anyone remembers me but I see some familiar names. I went mainly on the name 36O. I wasn't really in any clans but I had short stints in Tung, Bx, QBA, and Dsk. I I'd love to hear from old clan mates. BTW I finished medical school for those who knew me back then.

Wow, Amazing to see that Quake 1 is still kickin'! Truly hardcore!

Well I'll start by introducing myself as Makanator aka: D11 Makanator, D11 Mak, and DevilDigger.

Can't begin to remember when I started playing Q1 but its been some time ago for sure. I begin playing back when Shmack was called Marlinspike maybe 98' or so. Also had alot of GGs on Widowmaker when Chuck was the man. Then the transition of Widowmaker becoming TLTQ, I was Admin for a little while. Second in command of D11. Kicked around Deadzone and Singed for a bit. Started getting a bad taste in my mouth towards the end and figured it was time to move on, so I did.

I'm currently part of Team RIOT http://www.q4riot.com in Quake 4. We're a Multigaming clan involved in Quake 4, UT3, Hellgate London and D&D Stormreach.

Just was diggin' around and found the site and thought it would be interesting to jump in and say hey! Maybe start hanging around the servers again.

Remember alot of killer games with the likes of: We1rdQ, BRO, Dole, Toyo, Cherrie, I HATE HUMANS, WULF, Smooth, Mr.Quazy, Chuck, Matt, L3fty, Tool, Hydro Smoke, Idalis, DZ, and PITA just to remember a few, oh yeh and URDEAD!
