      • Surviving Rangers from the Quake Dimension, I salute you with my Thor's Hammer.

My assumed name is FighterForJustice, in honor of Quake's original working title, Quake: The Fight For Justice. I am a fan of many games from the elder period which many of my time refuse to acknowledge anymore, and I am, of course, a fan of the classic Quake 1 and its two respective Mission Packs.
In my own imaginary world, I was the chief programmer of many nonexistant games, such as Doom 5: Quake Meets Doom, Nightmare (a cross between Doom, Quake, and Unreal) and Hexen III: The Serpent Riders Enter Middle Earth.
This expository information is, of course, humorously intended. My interests in Quake 1 include: the loose inspiration Quake drew from Lovecraft and other Dark Fantasy authors, the absence of other bosses in the other realms as cool (or cooler) than Cthon, its artistic and story similiarities and differences with Doom, being based in an early 3D engine, and its development history as well.
That's my introduction. Go by the blessings of Cthon!

                    • hi D:
I played quake probably back in 97/98 Can't remember for sure. I started out on heat.net and mplayer and then moved on to netquake from there.

On heat.net/mplayer I used the alias: Brisk and a couple other can't remember.
When I played netquake I usually went by kancel. I was part of the + clan with epithet and wanker etc.
I wish pak would show his ugly mug around here. I forgot which server's he ran, but man it was fun to play with him. We always 1v1'd DM6.

                      • Intro

Greetings everyone, my name is Chris, I played under one handle only back in my Quake days. I played as MdC-Pike in the Mad Cows clan, we played CTF, TF, FVF and other mods. We typically played at DoW's server as well as the famous Deadlode. When I firsted started playing, I played on Kali and then moved to Mplayer. Moved from those services to using Quakespy and Quakeworld.

I remember my brother and I downloading Quake shareware just a couple days after getting our first computer on Jan 1 1996. Pentium 133, 16MB ram, Cirrus Logic 2MB card, SB16 sound card. I played at 320x240 for years on that thing. I played so much I nearly failed my freshman year in high school, hours and hours a day making friends and memories. My fondest memories are of playing quake with my online friends. I played Quake for nearly five years before life took me elsewhere.

Fast forward a decade and I still play games, but I have always wanted to return to Quake, to relive the old days. I work as an Sys/Net admin and am preparing to host a server at the head-end of an ISP I own. Trying to pull together documentation and the files I need to run the server. If anyone wants to contribute to this project and work with me on it, let me know. I appreciate any tips or file locations.

Lastly, if you recognize my name, please let me know, it would be incredible to talk to people I used to play with. Some of those I used to play with are: Dante, Chomp, Grivoid, Cheatmaster, Frozentoast, Kingbutcher, Warmachine and many others.

Keep the quake standard close and take it with you always.

                        • Hey peeps, 0z79 here. Usually just 0z, unless my name needs more than two characters, for some reason.

I download (legally, of course) a game, install it, play it... it's fun, but it's too slow, or too complicated, or played once and forgotten, with very rare exceptions; Planescape: Torment or Morrowind, for example.

But this old game keeps dragging me back; it's pretty much the most perfect single player fps ever made.

                          Anyway, that's my introduction.

                          • Hi, I'm Andrew, I had quake since it came out. I never played it online (but plan on doing so when I build my new computer).
I'm just getting into mapping. (started yesterday)

I'm also a doom mapper and regular online doom (skulltag mostly) player.

                            • Hi everyone, my name is Jason. I got quake in 96 when i was just a kid. I loved it, even though i used cheats all the time . I played online several times back then but i was a kid, so naturally i was garbage. Several years later, i found a little editor called quark and taught myself how to make maps, not realizing there were online tutorials. Ever since then, I have been making maps for Quake and HeXen II. I have had many failed attempts at quake maps until a couple of years ago, when i made my first real DM map.

I then went on to convert that to single player, make that map bigger, and started a nehahra mission pack. I had about a third of it done, when i lost it due to my brother reformatting the computer we shared (i have my own now, obviously) 3 levels from the remnant's of that can be seen here in this preview. Yes, its diablo music

I also made a deathmatch level for hexen 2 PoP which consists of 3 very different areas - i will upload a video soon - I've done much testing with a friend, and it's simple, but very fun.
I have never released my work, but i am working on a new map for Quoth right now that i plan on releasing (hopefully) soon.
