    Yes, FrikaC .. consider yourself warned. You just mentioned a site that violates the new moderation policy. I'll give you a free pass this time

    But the thing is, I can't vouch for Solecord ... he might get medieval on your ass. And Yellow No. 5 --- well -- he shoots at friends in teamplay, so that tells you about how edgy and uncontrollable he is.

    Please do not tempt the wrath of Solecord in the future, FrikaC. Although I will try to protect you, I can't make any guarantees because Steve owns at Quake :d :d

      I was just funnin' yah.

      To those reading my other post now, just for clarity, I didn't LINK to the site or the download, I just mentioned the name of a clan page that happens to have full quake and both mission packs.

      The fact it got edited is hilarious to me, and I suspect Baker is laughing too. Or at least chuckling a bit.

          This is turning ridiculous, why not just accept a decent rule and shut up everyone?

              Just for the record, QuakeOne != Solecord either or QuakeOne != Yellow as well... it's a group thing really. We've all been contributing in our own ways and we all came up with the site together. However, unfortunately in the eyes of the law, QuakeOne = Solecord so unless you wish to sign a document that guarentees you'll cover any and all legal costs that may occur as a result of copyright violations from this site (warez downloads) then the moderation policy will exist. Case closed.

                I agree. Not pointing to illegal downloads is a good practice. Better safe then drawn in when that site is sued. Even if they didn't charge you, having to defend yourself is a P.I.T.A. I promise not to post any no no's "ON" the board ;

                  It doesn't bring more players into the game. But you can still get in deep trouble for giving out QUAKE illegally. I would stay away from the illegal download linx.

                    Personally, I'd do it. I'd be more than happy to.

                    I will find you... it's only a matter of time.

                        That link has been up since 2000, you honestly think someone is going to get sued? Piracy is a good thing

                            Case closed? Apparently all of you overlooked the fact that you're not legally responsible for content that's not hosted on your site. Your site linking to other sites that host illegally distributed content (especially content that nobody even cares about) will never bring charges against you (the owner of this site).

                            Did any of you think to research the law at all when discussing this issue at your super-secret elder council summit you held on the matter? By the sounds of it, I'm guessing all of you came to this decision after holding a meeting consisting entirely of thoughtless statements and opinions that have no factual basis.

                            If they decided to do anything at all, (which they wouldn't in this case) they would go after the sites hosting the content. They're the ones breaking the laws, not you.

                            Case wide open.

                            And, speaking from experience: John Carmack and ID software will never come after you even if you DID host the content. It's not worth it to them financially.

                                What does business law have to do with this? '

                                Can you stop littering this messageboard with your seemingly worthless thoughts? You're contributing nothing to the discussions as far as I can tell.
