I wish I had....

by Turbine 2, 9/5/98     I wish I had something to bitch about. Mind if I make up a few? Ok, here goes. There just aren't enough 2fort5 servers around to play on. I wish you guys would just leave the cheaters and hackers alone. They are really just nice guys if you get to know them. How come losers don't whine more? I love whining spammers. I wish the new engineer had more emp grenades, like about 30 and they had a little more range so they could blow me up while I was still in my resupply room. Why don't we have mirv concs for the scouts? How come the effects can't last longer? I just love catching a buzz from the cute little guys. How come some of the guys don't show a little more disrespect for the female players? We don't need no stinking women around here. I really think it sucks that there aren't more engineers around who are considerate enough to put their sentry in the entryway of our resupply rooms. It makes it so much more fun. Whatever happened to the invis medic cheat? That was the greatest. I know I got a big kick out of getting constantly hacked by some ghost. We really need more snipers that like to have good fun like shooting their teammates in the back just as they crest the bridge. Carrying all that extra armor just weighs you down. Well, I am back from vacation and that's all I can bitch about right now. Gimme a day or so...I will whine with the best of them.

Cruel and unfair

by Joseph Geiger, 9/5/98     Ok people I have come to conclusion that the world of QuakeWorld is cruel and unfair to the hpbs. Some of us hpbs have been along so long and get no respect. We do have skill. I am sick of clans only looking for lpbs.
    I admit that lpb snipers are great and can crush and hpb sniper but it is unfair to all the other classes. Clan leaders today think that if a person is a hpb they suck, that is a bunch if bs. And I am sick of it. I have been playing TF for so long, so don't tell me I'm wrong. I have probably been playing longer then most of you people out there. as a TF vet who has gotten no respect because of being a hpb is just pisses me off. As of right now I really don't care if I piss you off either. Go ahead try and tell me I am a bunch of bs, send me hate mail, it just proves I am right.
     So am demanding that us TF vets who are hpbs get some damn respect. any friggen lpb can come along, get good, then get into a big clan, but if a hpb who has been around along time tries out for that same spot, and the clan leader finds out he is hpb he is turned down almost immediately. And you clan leaders know I'm right.
    I have been turned down so many time just because I am a hpb. Its the biggest bull I have ever seen. We deserve more then this, we are tired of being treated like crap. And I am going to make a stand for it! I want to say this to all TF clan leaders who always turn down hpbs "You guys are the meanest pieces of crap around. Give us chance for once. You bastards. We are just as skilled as some lpbs. And if u want to start something about it. Go ahead. I don't giva crap anymore. I am tired of being pushed around!!"

NovaGod Speaks Out

(Editors note: The name of the server has been deleted from this message. This Editorial is an indication of how things can get out of hand on servers. The person or group running the server has every right to run it any way he sees fit and you should not resort to any eye for an eye behavior when you disagree with the way a server is administered. How ever, if this player is accurate in his comments, then I feel he has exposed the problem we face each day on servers in that we are at the mercy of the console. It is always best to just be on your best behavior and play the game as it was intended and to accept the rules of the server or leave.)

    As I play on GameSpy I have fun, knowing the fact that if I accidentally we're to strike on of my teammates in a large battle that they wouldnt be hurt from it, I feel secure knowing that Team Fortress lives up to its name "(Team)". Well a while ago I was playing on a server. I saved this server under favorites because it contains my favorite maps. 2Tech4, 2fort5, BAM4, and Rock1. I was once sniping on 2TECH4 with an exceptional sniper at my side. We we're killing people as if it were no challenge. I had fun that day, I ended up in second place. This is where my story begins...
     The next day I woke up to play some TF on GameSpy, some with my clan and a little on the same server. At this time teamkill was off, so it was good. Then I played some StarCraft and other games. And then time came again, to go on GameSpy. I went to the server again to get some good practice done. The map was first 2TECH4, but soon it switched to Rock1. I was sniping people from under water and we were winning, I was in second place, our fate looked bright. Right? Wrong. Soon, the Blue team came up as they discovered me in the water and started killing me. Right when this happened, I started noticing things like (someone) got a frag for the other team, or (someone) checks his glasses after killing his teammate. Most of us started complaining, telling that TEAM Fortress was a TEAM game, not one where you may kill your own teammate when in a battle with an immensly large croud.
     I remember once instance where me (demoman) 3 of my teammates we're going for the flag when 2 pyros, 1 soldier, and 2 snipers met us at the ramps, it turned up to be a close combat battle, we were all in a circle (almost) when I started to shoot grenades at the enemy, each grenade that I shot ended up killing everyone there...including my three teammates with me at the time.
     Now, once we arrived at 2Fort5, I started complaining saying that this was stupid he never had teamkill on and now he puts it on unexpectedly? After a while the console kicked me out, then I came in, played a little and some people on my team fragged me 10 CONSECUTIVE TIMES IN A ROW. I thought that this was it, I'm gonna start yelling at the guy now, I asked him politely "Hey console, could you please switch teamkill off once we get to 2tech4?", I heard no response. I asked again once, no answer. I though to myself what an arrogant bastard. After being ignored long enough I gave my teammates a taste of their own medicine, I was respawned near the sniper deck, refilled on rockets, went to the snipers' nest, I took out my grenade launcher, launched ONE grenade at a group of snipers on my team. Then the lag symbol appeared on my screen, it said a strange message "Print (an IP address)" and a line below it said "Banned.".
     So here I am today banned from the server, simply trying to voice my opinion, when I get banned from a server. I think that if a server should be respected, it should be respected only of its viewer opinion recognization factor. This server from me, gets a ZERO. How pathetic that it be for a five year old to ban someone just because he is voicing his opinion, READ THE DAMN AMMENDMENTS! Well, this isn't really news, but I would appreciate if you posted this on your page, it would help gamers choose a server that is right for their needs not one that gives Team Fortress a bad name. Thank you for your time.

Music??!!??

by Turbine 2, 9/5/98     I was just thinking about what is wrong with the new generation and you know on thing I can see is the stuff they call music that they listen to. I have my own preferences of course, but I also like different types….heck, I even like some country music.
     I appreciate musical talent in general. But I’ll be switched, though if I can see any talent at all in some of the productions coming out now. Hip Hop and Rap, at least a lot of it, is of course an art form, and should be appreciated as such but it sure is a stretch to call some of those guys "musically talented". Heavy Metal? Showmanship is often a part of it, of course and it isn’t a bad thing. But having some shirtless guys wearing shorts and waiving their hair around while they make faces like they are having a long proctology exam while trying to make up for the fact that what they know about 2 chords by increasing the decibel level………sorry, I ain’t impressed.
     Jimmi Hendrix had more talent when he was 6 years old and musically was far ahead of these guys, even then. I tell you, when I hear some of these guys on the RA shows talking about the new "musical talents" and completely ignoring some of the artists that would demonstrate what real talent is……….It makes me want to puke. If you want to drone on about how this dude is soooooooooooo talented and that band is the greatest, you don’t have a clue. If you want to say they put out music that is fun to listen to or that they put on a good technical show, fine. If you want to say that they are the best at what they do, fine. Just don’t compare them to people like Stevie Ray and Eric Clapton, in the talent department. And don’t call it original, either, cause it’s been done before, and better.
     Try listening to some classic Hendrix. Composers? Lyrics? Can you really compare any one of the Heavy metal types with Paul McCartney? What is this stuff on the Hip Hop and Rap stuff about anyway? Hey, if you want to put out stuff about hate, violence, revolution……man, you truly are without a clue. I can sure see how a man from a few generations from a ghetto could have a very poor opinion of this society, and rightly so but when I see some spoiled, rich ass white kid singing about how his life sucks and he is sooooo bored…..look, JUST GET OVER IT. I don’t see you giving your money and time to helping those whom you would have us believe you care about. For that matter, what is it that you do care about?
