New Cheat in TFC... sigh- HME [6:23pm - 6/19/99]

Well I was doing some random TFC'ing today and I saw what seems to be a new cheat. Someone was on there with no name and not listed on the team list. The person was apparently able to hold onto the key since he kept on capping it over and over again. He was playing as a scout and his name came up on the id as "+++++" or something like that. It is very annoying on rock and ruined the fun for both teams altogether. If anyone has any idea on w hat this is please report it to valve so that it can be fixed.

News!!! Actual News!! Ph33r- HME [10:19pm - 6/18/99]

Got this in the mail and your hearing it here first!!

If you've got Half-Life installed and haven't downloaded the Uplink demo yet, this message is for you... The Half-Life Uplink demo (which includes a mini-mission that's not in the original game) can now be downloaded using the mod browser that we integrated with our HL v.1.0.0.9 update. This version of Uplink is only 10.4 MB (versus the 50 MB download for the original "non-mod" version) because it uses files you already have installed with the full game. To download Uplink: 1) Launch Half-Life. 2) Click on 'Custom Game'. 3) Click on 'Refresh list'. 4) Select the Half-Life Uplink demo from the list. 5) Click on 'Install'. Have fun... Jenni Gant Valve

Screenies! and a review of StarWars!- HME [11:12pm - 5/26/99]

Just got this in the mail from Valve. There are some new screenshots up over at Valve's page. I must say I am very impressed by these shots, but the soldier's nose kinda looks gimped up. Go check them out.

Yea I know this isnt about TF but oh well. If you have waited till you heard more about this movie or you just have not been able to get in then you saved yourself some money. This movie is heavily geared towards kids and does not have much of the flare that the other three Star Wars episodes had. The story is gimped and many of the action sequences are just plain lame. The dialog at the beginning of the movie is pitiful but later it gets alright. To say the least I was heavily dissappointed with the movie. Seen the movie? think Im wrong? email me: [email protected]

News!- mwhahaha [12:14am - 5/23/99]

Got this in the mail:

The Valve Fortress Clan Tournament has just opened at the Half-Life HQ! We are currently accepting clan applications for TFC and HL DM tournaments. Sign your clan up now before it is too late. Season 1 of the bloodiest tournament ever will kick off in early June. We are also looking for sponsors to support our tournament with prizes/money. For more information, visit our website at http://vf.halflifehq.com.

Yep we're still alive!- HME [7:42am - 5/21/99]

Jenni Gant of Valve sent a screenshot from E3. Im sure most of you have already seen it, but here it is anyway.

Here is what she had to say:

One of our main goals with TF2 is to give teammates a lot of opportunities to work together. This screen shot shows a medic loading ammo for a soldier -- which makes the soldier's gun shoot faster and more accurately. We also demoed the real-time voice communication system (with lip sync), the new MRM models, our parametric animation system, volumetric fog, etc. I'll send you another new screen shot tomorrow, and we'll have some .MPEG videos to show you in the next few days.

And check back soon for for our review of Star Wars.

We're alive!@- mwhahaha [6:59am - 5/12/99]

Sort of News is scarce and I'm [dead]. But here is some news!

We've just released the Half-Life dedicated server for Linux, v.
1.0.0.9., which includes Team Fortress Classic support. It's approximately
80 MB, and should only be downloaded by people wanting to run the dedicated
server (not the game itself) on Linux.

This release supports x86 Linux machines. The code was compiled on
RedHat 5.2 with glibc.

To install the server, download hlds_l.1009.tar.gz from this
location: http://www.won.net/gamerooms/action/half-life/.
Untar/unzip the file and read the linuxreadme file for further
instructions.

We have a mailing list for people interested in discussion about
Half-LIfe/TFC dedicated server issues, both Win32 and Linux. To join the
list, mail [email protected] with "subscribe hlds" in the body. If
you have install questions or problems, email the mailing list:
[email protected].

Any mirrors would be much appreciated!

        Thanks,

Well Mwhahaha and I decided to check out our statistics to see how many people really come here and were shocked at what we found. Somehow we managed to make it to the 41st spot on the hotbot.com search engine for "pure innocent girls." Not to mention that we have gotten hits from Estonia, United Arab Emirates, and a place called Niue. Want to see more of our random stats? Check them out. TF Syndicate Statistics

Billings is a wh0re..- mwhahaha [7:07pm - 4/15/99]

It's official...Billings is officially a BITCH!@ I was reading over on CFTF that he recently visited Williamsburg, Virginia...Now both myself and HME live in the crappy VA...and I live 20 mins from Williamsburg and HME lives there...And Billings didn't even tell us here was gonna be here. For this, he is a bitch.

Also, My friend sinorev made a new update to his email client, Undermine. You can download it from us right here.

TFC..- mwhahaha [6:48pm - 4/6/99]
I am very pleased to announce that the Primary Server Program download for
Half-Life v.1.0.0.9, with Team Fortress Classic, will be available at 4:00
p.m. PST today. The customer download (i.e., the general release of the
update) will be released tomorrow (Wednesday) at 9:00 a.m. PST.

PSP DOWNLOAD (4:00 PST today)
The Primary Server Program download will be about 75 MB. This is everything
necessary to run a Half-Life/TFC server even if you don't have a copy of the
retail game. We have added an auto-update capability to the PSP release so
that we can incrementally update server operators in the future.

To qualify for the PSP you must operate a server with a high bandwidth
connection (cable modem or better). To download the PSP, go to
http://www.gamecenter.com after 4:00 p.m. today and fill out a brief
application. If accepted you will then be given access to the download.

CUSTOMER DOWNLOAD (9:00 a.m. PST tomorrow/Wednesday)
The 1.0.0.9 customer download is going to be about 19 MB (as opposed to the
75 MB download for the PSP). We know demand for this is going to be very
high, and we would greatly appreciate your help in getting this out to as
many people as possible. In order to facilitate this, we will be setting up
a private FTP download site for TF and HL fan sites early tomorrow morning
for you to download the update yourself to make available on your own site
(and incidentally allow you to start playing sooner). Erik Johnson will
send out details later on how to access this FTP site.

HALF-LIFE SDK:
The Half-Life SDK is now available. For more information about the SDK go
to: http://www.valvesoftware.com/HLSDK.htm

LINUX SERVER
The Linux server is in the final stage of development and will go into
testing later this week.

Enclosed is the full press release.

Ugh more delays..- HME [4:35pm - 4/2/99]

Yep thats right. TFC is once again delayed. It seems that they want to release it in all languages but some of them aren't done yet. One good thing is going to come out of this delay though. They are going to be releasing a new map with it called Push. They were trying to hide this fact to us newsies.. the bastards :)
