Sentry Gun
Introduction
A Sentry Gun is a mobile gun, that can be build almost anywhere the Armourer wants.
When you build it, you start with just one minigun. Then, you have to add ammonution
so it has something to shoot. As you can see in you HUD, it has three kinds of ammo.
Shells, for the minigun(s), rockets for the rocketlauncher(s), and flaks for the flakcannon(s).
You have room for two guns on your gun, and you can choose which
ones yourself. Adding a gun costs 60 metal, removing one gives you 60 metal in return.
You have three guns, the minigun, the rocketlauncher and the flakcannon.
More on the guns
The minigun. The standard gun on your sentry. This one is good for all ranges.
With just one minigun you won't kill much big classes, but with double miniguns,
you will get all of them.
The flakcannon. This one is good for short range. You shouldnt mount just one
flamethrower (you should NEVER mount just one gun), but add two, and everyone coming
in range will be flakked before they can say flakshell. Combined with a minigun
you have the ultimate short range killer. Combining a flamethrower with a rocketlauncher
isnt smart. You can only kill properly at long- or short range. Most enemies will be
at mid-range before you even see them.
The rocketlauncher. The ultimate weapons on long range. Firing one (or two) rockets
every second, these painfull rockets are a killer. With a double rocketlauncher mounted
on your gun, no one will get past your sentry. Combine a rocketlauncher with a minigun
to get the original TFC sentry, combining firepower with lots of damage, killing everyone
that tries to pass. .
Upgrades
These are very important. Even when your gun is fully loaded and mounted,
each incoming Saboteur can destroy your sentry in no-time. No matter how
much bullets your gun will spit out, lot's of them won't reach there target.
And rockets arent fired rapidly enough to produce a untakeable barriere.
Thats where upgrades peek around the corner. Three classes in UnF, the Marksman,
the Heavy Gunner and the Saboteur are able to extend your sentries abilities.
The Marksman can upgrade your sentry so it will be more accurate. The Heavy Gunner
can upgrade your sentries rate of fire , which means it will shoot faster. The
Saboteur is able to upgrade your sentry so it will detect disguised enemy Saboteurs.
Beware! For this last upgrade, you have to build a Motion Sensor near the sentry.
Without the Motion Sensor, the sentry still cant keep disguised saboteurs and teammembers apart.
