HD textures for SP-maps!

    but just wait for the release of Arcane Dimensions 1.5, which most probably will also contain: Metal Monstrosity, The Horde of Zendar & Einmal D�ner mit Shambler und scharf bitte.

    The HD packs for these maps are already available and therefore can be easily adapted/completed in the case!

      Wow!!! Didn't know also those already fantastic maps will be adapted for AD, it gets better and better, and of course I can't wait for AD 1.5

      PS: Icaro, your pack also covered many textures from map E1M1 (Doom 1 lvl 1 in AD)

        nice to also see metal monstrosity getting edited for AD,
        its one of the only base-maps ever that i actually enjoyed

        .

        but mkay, lets wait for AD 1.5 then, if its so close....

        once AD1.5 is out you'll have my permission to include my metal monstrosity HD pack
        into a single merged big HD texture-pack for all Arcane Dimensions maps,
        so that we'll have one single unified HD pack instead of a whole bunch of pk3s
        .

          I really love that map, Necros created some masterpieces of maps, I like especially the doom style maps like At the gates of Midian, Once Upon Atrocity and Dawn of Eternity

            • Beautiful work as always Icaro, E1M1 is absolutely one of my favourites being a die hard Doom fan since 1995. I liked the idea to put Doom marine head on a texture, that's a great tribute. When I've done Terra HD pack (it's being updated and released soon) I've done the texture +0q slime, using part of a Rytel Texture and an HD Doom texture: I've done the same to your texture to improve the quality (since I've used the HD texture as base for slime). Do you want to see it? Maybe if you like it you can put it in the AD complete pack when you do it. Anyway When I play that map I drop this .pk3 inside my AD folder..... here's the link: https://www.dropbox.com/s/s62ctpjz71...%20AD.pk3?dl=0

                still sucks about the 20images limit, which means i cant add pics for all HD packs

                about half of the packs in the full list dont have image so people can see a preview

                  • Looks good except for the at least 10 that I count (maybe more) missing textures. Here are screenshots with texture names in lower right hand corner.

                    I checked your archive and I didn't see them in there either. Am I missing something here? The only other textures I have are from the Quake retexturing project.

                          A big thanks to everyone for the HD textures! They really give new life to quake. I did some failed attempts at making my own textures back in the 90's but rather quickly gave up. The limiting 256-color palette drove me nuts. I guess the support for TGA-textures in modern quake has removed that limit.

                          Looks great! Unfortunately QuakeSpasm doesn't like some of the textures in the texture pak for Tronyn's Something Wicked This Way Comes linked in the first post. I get the error message "Image_LoadTGA: <filename> is not a type 2 or type 10 targa" for the following textures:
                          +0wall58.tga
                          +1wall58.tga
                          +2wall58.tga
                          mwall4_1.tga
                          mwall4_2.tga
                          mwall5_1.tga
                          w_337.tga
                          w101.tga
                          wall30_3.tga
                          wall30_4.tga

                          Looked at the QS source and as far as I can tell QS don't like 8-bit TGAs with indexed palettes. It only supports Uncompressed RGB images (type 2) and Runlength encoded RGB images (type 10).

                          Also I think the +5ka0_koth.tga is missing from the texture pack. One texture in the sequence shows up as low-res in-game. If I copy +4ka0_koth.tga to +5ka0_koth.tga then all "frames" in the sequence are hi-res.

                          • I've seen this before with other past textures from other places long ago. At least those should be an easy fix since they just need to be saved in a Quakespasm compatible TGA format, not with indexed palettes.

                              Indeed! Changed the color mode from Indexed to RGB with photoshop and resaved. That fixed it.

                                oh oops... i mustve accidentially forgot to copy that texture from the Nyarlatothep texture-pack,
                                and i didnt notice myself in-game cuz i also have the nyarlatothep HD pack in my wicked folder which does contain the texture

                                about QS and TGA

                                i use an image converter to convert the images from png to TGA.
                                sorry but i have no intention of looking into the issue, as i exclusively use darkplaces which doesnt have this issue

                                easy solution: use darkplaces instead, darkplaces has better support for HD replacements
