Finally - after month of waiting.... You are one the right way, simply YOU ROCK!! AWESOME work so far!
...But you should release the ULTRA versions also with releasing a new skin. Because in my oppinion it is better scaleable for high end users (like me ;-)) and low end users, that dont have the hardware to play QUAKE with the Rygel-Pack and your skins activated!
Hope to get the downloadable content soon!

Amazing skins! I even can't decide, which Scrag i love more / is better for the game / fits Quake.
But there is something strange with Scrag skins, especially with version 1: when the monster is outside lightzones / shadows, it's unnaturally (even for Quake's magic realms) bright / pink.
I mean:
Look at the Ogre's (original Quake skin) lighting, which fits the scene:
And at these pinky scrags:
And now with the original Knight:
Alternative skins are more natural, but not perfect bright:
Maybe, if you change color of the skin ver.1 it will be perfect?
Or i just have to change something in the darkplaces cfg to fix skins lighting?
Anyway, your work is really extremely impressive, keep up! Waiting for other HD beasts!

I've played around with Scrag ver.1 skin palette a little and got this:
Seems like colors are now more natural and it fits Quake enviroment better:
If you like it, get it here:
Download scrag_dark.pk3
(copy scrag_dark.pk3 to id1 folder and delete wizard.mdl_0.jpg, wizard.mdl_0_gloss.jpg and wizard.mdl_0_norm.jpg images from id1/progs)Last edited by BEEF34T3R; 05-08-2010, 06:01 AM.

Thanks for pointing that out but tweaking the skin is not the right way, in fact I acknowledge the luma file is missing in the pack
(btw luma textures regulate the amount of light the skin receives)
By darkening the actual skin you end with a darker scrag in lit areas but maybe too dark in shadowed areas, moreover finer details may be lost in the process.
@haze_the_great: yep, for sure, in the final full pack. Actually our build has a different explosion effect with multiple gibs and blood sprites, but we're going to support also those that have the old "head system"; moreover, gibs are fun to texture!
@zwingly: bad bad lurker, no twinkie! so you missed almost all the screens so far published in this forum!
@TR2N: we prefer to handle the resizing of the skins to low res because the results may differ on the base of the method you use to downscale. Doing it ourselves by hand we assure to carve the best even for low spec pcs. At least we hope so
