>escape and come back with tin foil hats
The other powerful presence is right on top of you, it would seem...and the closer it gets, the more it seems to overwhelm the current situation. It's more powerful than anything you've ever felt...it even eclipses Vol-Balgruth's presence. You try to look around, but your head-turning impulses are garbled. You squirm and contort yourself in random non-sequential patterns until you finally find yourself looking behind you. A single ranger stands behind you with a hood over his head. Is it....is it Ray? Oh great, that's just fucking great! REAL fucking great, just what you need! Wait...wait, that presence...that face...that's not The Captain. That's...that's that one guy you met earlier. What's his....Protos? Yeah, that's him. What's he doing here?
Look like you could use some help, soldier! If that isn't the understatement of the millenium. Let me handle this thing. Protos draws his rifle, a make completely unfamiliar to you. He fires at the Elder God. A huge black lightning-laser beam pierces the Elder God, causing it to swirl and contort. You feel your balance restored. The auras controlling you lift. The pain subsides and you feel your motor functions return. You get out your Lightspark Rifle and lay down additional fire. Your companions charge in and join the assault. Now, soldier! Use the crystal! You reach back to your satchel and pull out the sack containing the crystals. You pull out the last remaining empty crystal, run up to the swirling mass of flesh and raw power and jam the crystal into it. The crystal soaks up the creature. You continue firing, making sure the thing is dead as dead can be. When all is said and done, all that you find left of the thing is a full black crystal, a greasy black smeer on the stone floor, and...something else. The hell is that?
You got the Rune of Wind Magic!
