    I like my Doom to be like my Quake, I keep vanilla and high-res folders to enjoy both as the muse hits me!

      I prefer the graphics of Doom, Quake and Quake 2 compared to the graphical updates people have made. It just seems right and I personally think the graphics in Quake are much better than Halo.

        hrm..... the models look nice, but for some reason i just... i dunno, theres just something about them i dont like...
        perhaps the fact the model textures are detailed in parts but flat in other parts... perhaps that the models look to detailed for the engine, especially seeing that doomsday doesnt have rt-shadows which makes the models look flat and while the models themself look amazing and quite real the fact that there are no shadows in doomsday makes it unreal looking and makes them look kinda out-of-place. and also they just dont feel like doom to me cuz they are to detailed and real for doom, the fact the models look so great makes it even more obvious how incredibly undetailed the rest of the game is

        i prefer the current models cuz they are not so overly real and detailed.
        well, most of the current doomsday models could most definetely be redone or replaced with better versions, but the ones from ascension just look to good for doom IMO, and they dont look like the originals anymore


        and btw to me it looks just plain funny that they gave the imp normal human teeth
        .

          I personally prefer the original graphics of Q1 and Doom, but i do like it when there are extra effects that fit in with the graphics, kind of like the addition of colored lighting and other effects that don't drastically change the game's graphics (like DP) In the case of doom, I usually don't like model replacers, but that Doom ascension thing looks pretty cool, plus i like sprite mods that make weapons look different like this: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_44wFzGSFOo&feature=channel_video_title]New Stuff in Brutal Doom V0 13 (part1) - YouTube[/ame]

              Thanks for sharing about Brutal Doom, I've never heard of it and it looks like a good addition to classic Doom. I still like to have as many versions and mod as is possible to play with and look at for both Quake and Doom.

                        I like Doom, but I'm more of a Heretic fan. I thought that the monsters were tougher in Heretic and the weapons were a little bit weaker. The game was very fair in Heretic. Don't get me wrong; I'm not saying that Doom wasn't fair. I'm just saying that Heretic was more of a balanced game. In addition, I loved the ability to fly in Heretic. I loved the way the weapons were powered up. You know, I think it's safe to say that Heretic is Doom's younger brother. (I haven't played Doom 3, so I can't comment on that game.)

                          always use skulltag for playing doom online myself, its perfect for playing doom online since its so easy to find active games for it and it supports every kind of add-on

                          for playing doom offline i always use risen3D myself though since it imo has the best models and effects and such, and it supports enemy mods and such which doomsday doesnt sadly. and its more actively developed and doesnt have bugs unlike doomsday which sadly has lots of them. the choice of models and such for risen3d isnt very big but they have the best looking models and such

                          btw another awesome mod for skulltag you all have to try sometime : MASTER OF PUPPETS
                          its awesomes. it lets you choose between marine or 'puppetmaster'
                          the marines have to try and finish the level, while the puppetmasters can 'possess' any monsters in the map and take control over them and fight the marines from the monsters pov, gaining the monsters strenghts and weaknesses
                          came across the mod once and tried it for fun cuz i was curious what it was and its pretty darn awesome to be able to take control of any monster in a map and run after the marines and kill them
                          nothing more awesome then taking controll of a baron of hell or revenant or such and watch the marines run as you go after them
                          the mod hosted on the <<<<]}--RAVE.FM--{[>>>> servers 24/7 (if im not mistaking)


                          btw if any of you wanna play a game of skulltag online some time together, tell me and ill gladly join for a game of skulltag.
                          mostly love invasion or coop modes myself

                          the name i use in skulltag myself is... dun dun dun, surprise suprise: splitterface
                          (bet you didnt see that coming, did you? )



                          oh btw, i also have model replacements and hi-res textures for everything in standard doom + model replacements for the skulltag weapons and monsters
                          they're mostly rips from risen3d. they dont look as awesome as in risen3d cuz skulltag isnt capable of as fluid animations as risen3D, but they're still pretty kick-ass IMO and skulltag looks so much better with them
                          personally love them even though they arent perfect and wouldnt wanna play skulltag without anymore
                          if anybody else is interested in them too ill gladly upload them to mediafire

                            Ehi splitterface, 5 minutes ago I've finally found how to have high res status on skulltag/gzdoom. I'm experimenting with other stuff like titlepic, fonts etc.... If you or someone else need it, I can upload it. I'm totally obsessed with that mod Ultimate Torment and Torture, I would like to have it HD with quake retexturing project textures, quake status bar, fonts etc..but I don't know how to do it

                              oh btw, do you happen to know how you can upscale the fullscreen hud in skulltag?

                              i always use the fullscreen hud with only the icons in corners without the rest of the hud, but its ubertiny on my screen,
                              which makes it hard to see your health and armor cuz its so tiny



                              ive asked around often when i was playing skulltag to other people if anybody knew how to make the hud bigger, but nobody seemed to know

                                I'm sorry but I don't know, I'm totally ignorant on Skulltag/GZDoom, and their community isn't very supportive when asking help. Anyway the status bar will be uploaded in few hours, I'm going out for some beers now
