    vote-map now works.

I'm going to add a "levels" command that lists the maps (and it'll print upon connect, I'd prefer to use the name "maps" but some clients have that as a command), wrap up and upload.

And here is a seemingly fully functional perfectly operational progs.dat for Team Fortress 2.5 with vote-map.

The "levels" command displays the list of maps available and you type the name of the map in the console to vote it.

Download: NQ Team Fortress 2.5 dedicated progs.dat with votemap

It is labelled beta because although I think it works fine and don't have any reason to believe otherwise, it hasn't been live tested and anything that hasn't been live-tested in gameplay with multiple players is by definition beta.

well let's see if we cant get it up on a quakeone.com server to test? Because avi is wanting to run 2.9 i think and that's prob what the amnesia servers will be running.

I'll see if I can get it loaded on the HDZ box (Texas) tomorrow.

A nice thing that equake and mvdsv xe have is a server-side map list. Basically it prints to whoever calls "maplist" in the console every map currently on the server in the mod's /maps folder. They can even be filtered and such using wildcards and parts of map names. It's a server-side thing though, so it would depend on what you finally decided on using.

Great work, Baker! I look forward to seeing this puppy in action /m/

Alright, Bam still had the FTP username for a server that doesn't get a lot of action.

I'm going to save the old configuration and upload this.

It's gonna take a while. I think there is about 100 MB to upload and at 1 Mbps or whatever I get for upload speed, might take a couple of hours.

dredd.quakeone.com now has the NQ Team Fortress 2.5 with vote-map up and running on it. It hasn't been tested except a quick check that everything seems to work [but I know little about Team Fortress].

                Downloads required:

                NQ Team Fortress Downloads:

Download: NQ Team Fortress EZ Installer - 17.4 MB

                OR

Download: NQ Team Fortress Pak - 26.8 MB

                Both are gamedir free.

                Optional Qrack textures pack:

Download: Qrack Team Fortress gfx pak file. - 18 MB

Some time when I have more time (tomorrow likely), I'll update the server description and make a NQ Team Fortress downloads page.

hmm so i checked it out and voted for "colony1" map, it worked.. but then i picked up some gun in the gun rack near the "Kevlar armor" thing and it seems that made the server crash.. or at least i got disconnected and cant get back in.. (dunno if it matters but i was "pyro" class)

wow Baker, I guess you really don't know the good TF goodies out there. one word. Dox. a wonderful modeler/texture artist.

                        Dox's spanner

                        Dox's railgun

                        Dox's chaingun

then there's Plague, with his awesome 24-bit goodness!

                        his turret

                        his dispenser

                        and his amazing grenades

then there's Ruohis, with his trusty ammobox

                        http://www.kolumbus.fi/ruohis/quake/models/ammobox.zip

^^ this was giving me trouble with pakexplorer =o/

then there's me, being nice enough to put all this in a pak for ya minus the ammobox. this also includes better sounds for speech, chaingun, railgun, and the turret. I also included Dox's hgren2.mdl, biggren.mdl and Plague's e spikes.

I know of the Dox models but Team Fortress isn't something I'm all that familiar with.

You should be using Pakscape. The only thing Pakscape doesn't do that Pakexplorer does is that it can't rename files within a pak.

In every other way, including support for files with >8 character, it is much better.

                          That'd be good

From the log, it was getting a lot of "SZ_GetSpace: overflow" on that map.

So either it was the map, or the code. I can't recall offhand what problem that signifies since I'm not too deep into QuakeC but I remember xCTF having that problem on E1M7 and I believe it had something to do with entities.

Either way, shouldn't be hard to fix and if it is and that map is the only map that hates it, it could be removed from the list temporarily.

Baker, can you make it so the server reads different config files? for example fortress.cfg? a lot of binds are used in fortress and I think it should have its own cfg without disrupting the main config.

                                I have textures for 1on1r, 2night2, 2nuke2, amth1, dune1, engbat, h4rdcore, impact1, mbasesr, rock2, shoop, spit, tf2k, town2, vote40(great voting map), z7, and more. those are all maps worth adding.

I also have lits for 1on1r(made it with FTE), cloudy(another good map to add), ftrial3(another good one to add), spit and spit2(both made with FTE), tf2k, and xpress3(another one to get).
