I feel this is relevant to the thread as it's about my trying to get my 2nd computer running as a dedicated Quake server, and a router.

I sometimes got information from the imprinted FCC number on the PCB. Not sure how much info you can find from that on the Inet anymore but I do recall finding out a mobo make from that once many years ago.

Those are all chinaman words and do not apply... except for the Islam one, it's not chinaman but it's islaman and still doesn't apply, hah.

I need a VGA cable... I found the motherboard make/model. The sticker I was looking at had a misprint/typo/drunk factory worker thing going on.

            Not totally true.

Qin being a dynasty is a universal word for any language. Being a name and all. That's like saying Mexico is a Mexican word so doesn't count. Or burrito, taco or even jalepeno is mexican so doesn't count in the english language. Just not true. ;p

And "qepic" is a currency so is also a universal word for any language. An English pound is still an English pound in Asia or Guatemala.

Glad you found the mobo model number. That makes life easier.

Universal for any language or not, it's of chinaman origin, so there.

I almost have the computer complete. In fact, it is complete, but it doesn't want to boot off the CDROM for some reason. It says ATAPI boot failure. I even tried other cds... nothing. They're all known working discs, I use them all the time.

I got it working, in fact I'm trying this post from the soon to be server right now. The CD drive is gay, sometimes it boots, sometimes it doesn't. And 300MHz is sloooooooooooow. Other than that it's alright.

Seriously. You can pick up a complete 2.0ghz P4 computer for like $50, why are you using old junk from '97?

                                Dell Optiplex GX240 2.4ghz 30 Day Warranty!!! - eBay (item 220456359755 end time Aug-21-09 19:53:17 PDT)

Took me about 30 seconds to find this. Obviously there are cheaper models on there, but that was the first one to come up in the price range.
