There's almost no possible way. This game is very very unfriendly to any one who is new. Not necessarily the community, but the actual gameplay. The lag is very difficult to get use to and the game feels slow and sluggish. Getting new people, that haven't already played this game, is a near impossible task. Only way it'd work is if we got enough newbs to have newbs fight newbs.

It's 2011, if your living with lag,its probably because you're paying for a shit service.
I've lived on East Coast and Central , and there is no reason to be mentioning lag as a "con" in netquake.

I have Cable internet and live in the US. I get around 70 ping in your guy's US servers. I feel as sluggish as I do with 200+ ping in QW. To any one not use to NQs all around laggyness it's a very hard thing to get use to and also very frustrating. The movement and firing is just slightly off, which may not sound like much but it's very irritating.

I think they only list the pub servers that are within your ranking/stats. You can get an invite from a friend etc. Though all the really good players are on PRO servers, which cost $$. Pub servers are filled with kids that were not old enough to play, when Quake3 was popular. FOr a challenge only select the yellow servers, the green ones are best for your skill level, yellow is harder.

Skill obviously also depends on the gamemode you are playing. I guess cK spook is a dueller? Or TDM? What gamemode did you play?
Public servers in the high tiers are filled with cool guys. Not kids. ;-)

lol, you don't even multiplay Q1 , what makes you think anyone believes its full of trolls and idiots , I mean, that would mean you have to actually play it.

Yes but most people already brought Quake 3 and in Quake 3 you have the ability to mod, in Quake Live you can't and the players are no lifers. Just look, back in closed beta it had so many players and once open beta came it start slowly decreasing and that hasn't stopped. And I think you're getting Quake 1 mixed up w/ Quake Live, I did play Quake Live before I got banned for cheating.
