If this is true and correctly implemented, that would feature would completely eliminate the need for -mem xx, heapsize and what not.
That feature wouldn't quite be a panacea (*) by itself though, most non-DarkPlaces engines end up eventually hitting the 1024 textures limit and subsequently crashing. I can't remember if FitzQuake is immune to the 1024 textures thing. FitzQuake's brilliant texture manager can flush all the textures loaded, but this feature may only be used in practice by vid_restart when bits per pixel changes are completed (32 bit -> 16 bit and the reverse and may not be used in FitzQuake in a way to prevent a GLtextures > max textures issue).
I'd have have to load 30 maps back to back to back to see.
(*) from the point of view of an engine that can run indefinitely without ever needing to restart no matter how many map changes occur, textures loaded, gamedir switchings or whatnot is done inside it.
Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.
So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...
Qrack does support Nehahra. Just run it with the added command "-nehahra". The music works just fine, too. The only thing I'm waiting for is Warpspasm support.
Damnit. I need to re-download nehahra then. The version I'm using is packed all into one .pak file. (and I am using -nehahra) Possibly Qrack has a file amount limit in paks.
qrack doesnt suck but not good for my pc.
Qrack runs fine on my new laptop (which is not for games by any means) with everything turned up. The only thing I can't use is dynamic lighting.
When running nehahra in Qrack, if I use -nehahra, I get the error "You must specify Nehahra game directory in -game." If I use -game hehahra, I get "Mod_NumForName: progs/player1.mdl not found."

Heh, no I got it right in the command line. Nehahra works in other engines, but in Qrack it looks for player1.mdl, which I don't have on my hard drive.
hmmm, possibly reinstall Nehahra. I have no probs with that mod on my end
Baker, I was talking to Reckless, last monday and he told me he had implemented a new memory manager into his MH project. He said it will clear out any data between map loads that arent used for that map. Textures, sounds, BSP, models, progs, everything That and I think it will scale over 1000gb?? Hmm cant remember now it was early in the morning when we discussed it. Darkplaces has become an entirely NEW engine, oh that happens to utlilize all Quake data

Sounds very convenient. I love the idea of an indefinitely running engine.
One way to quickly discover how to crash an engine is start loading several maps back to back to take screenshots. Ugggh.

Oh The Sadness! Oh the Horrors! I downloaded the 1.90 and it crashes. The Qrack before (don't know the version) also didn't run.
C:\Quake\glQrack.exe -game qrack -width 640 -height 480
"Do you want to tell Microsoft?" Yeah right! Like they can help.
I'll have to put an AGP vid card in this machine. It is a gigabyte that supports 8xAGP. I'll have to check in town.
I can get joequake (got it from Baron) to run on this machine.
It is gonna storm tonight Perhaps getting 2 inches of rain out of this weekend.

But that just made me crash and I couldn't find the external program....
I mean, ztndm3 worked fine and I actually found it all a nice experience. But there must be a simple download function without crashing, right?
It's also annoying that, when I don't have the map, I can't chat with people who are already playing in the map. In quakeworld, this is possible.
2. Is there a way to turn off 'pain' and 'death' flashes when getting hit? The screen turns red. I'd also like to turn off the fuzzy look when being invisible, or underwater, etc.
3. Can I turn off auto-aim in quake with this client? When I play against Reaper Bots (installed them for oldschool fun), the rocketlauncher seems to aim higher then I'm actually aiming.
