      I was an avid AVG user, until I saw the light of day (Avast!).

        Yes. The Mac version is a little bit behind the Windows version. It's at 4.46. I usually only do the Mac version every 5 or 6 updates.

          Is there a mac install/setup guide anywhere? I installed it on my mac but when I play, the vantage point appears that I'm walking in the floor. Something's screwed up hah.

            Sole, do ....

            Options -> Reset to Defaults

            In the Quake menu.

            If this for some reason doesn't solve your problem, let me know and maybe post a screenshot. I've never heard of anyone complaining about anything like that with Mac ProQuake, but then again there are like 15 people grand total to collect Mac ProQuake feedback from.

              Any idea why my guy is stuck looking up and spinning endlessly when I alt enter and come back? I'm using Dx8 4.5 and running Win7. Doesn't do it when I'm windowed, or go back to windowed mode, only when I go back to full screen.

                That should be easy enough to fix. I need to have it clear the mouse state on ALT-ENTER and video mode change. And apparently it is doing it in the wrong order for the DX8 build, like perhaps restarting the mouse state prior to the video mode change being completed.

                  Baker, why can't I use capture_start/capture*** commands!? I defined the codec, have it on 640x480 but it gives me a "ERROR: couldn't create video stream" message?

                    I don't know if this is the right place to post this, but it does seem to be an issue with ProQuake only, so...

                    I'm currently playing Scourge of Armagon in ProQuake 4.51, and the gold key doesn't spawn in Hip2M3 when played in the DX8, D3D, or GL versions of ProQuake. It does appear in WQPro though. I haven't had it not appear in any other level yet.

                    Aside from being a gameplay problem, this just doesn't make any kind of sense to me. I'm hoping as much that it can be explained as fixed.

                      Type capture_codec in the console. What does it say?

                      Also look in the console for "ACM module not initialized" or "ACM module initialized" does it say it initialized ok? If the ACM module failed to initialize, you don't have the MS .dll needed for it.

                      I just tried this on my XP machine, capturing worked just fine. Admittedly, I can't recall if I've ever tried capturing on Vista and I don't have Win7 for testing.

                        Could be frames per second issue messing with physics or collision.

                        I'll take a look at this. Thanks for reporting it.

                          Thanks ++++

                          I just confirmed this. It's truer than true and very strange. The game logic in gl versus wq versus dx8 is identical, yet somehow the edict is getting freed.

                          I can nail down what version this first occurred and fix. Very disturbing. I have some clues, there are very few things that could cause this issue (I can think of 3 or 4).

                          Will fix.

                          Thanks! It is rare to get an obscure high quality bug report, especially for a Mission Pack.

                            Well, the default looks to be 0. I set it to 1, xvid and dvix. None of those worked.

                            I tried it on my Win7 and an XP laptop. I'll go check the ACM message.

                            Edit; says I have it.

                              I have a theory that works like this, Win7 has stronger path permissions and this does not normally affect Quake but AVI recording is done by a .dll and Win7 and Vista will not let it write where it wants to. (Quake file writing gets remapped into the User's folder by Win7/Vista transparently).

                              What is your Quake folder name?

                              I think this is a situation where Win 7 isn't giving a .dll write permission. This may mean I may need to change where AVIs get recorded to for Vista/Win7.

                              Thanks!

                              • Err, I meant I tried it on Win7 AND XP and had no luck at all. I have it in C:\Quake.
