    @gdiddy
    thanx a lot, im glad you like it. the customer who requested me to build it was real excited too when i showed him it was done

    SL has its own internal editor, which operates without the need for any kind of outside editing programs. here's a quick random tutorial vid which shows the internal building system SL uses. it uses primitive shapes like blocks, spheres, cylinders and torusses which you can modify the shape of by cutting, hollowing, tapering, twisting and slicing them.
    really really basic, but if you know some tricks you can make pretty great-looking stuff with it. although it has its limitations
    [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c08WOhStkPg&feature=relmfu]SL Building Basics: Part 2 - YouTube[/ame]

    however sl can also load a special item called a 'sculptie' which is basically a ball which uses an extreme displacement map to completely deform the shape of the item into somsething completely else. which however has its limitations too cuz the item will still have the texture mapped the same which results in stretching of the texture in parts. 3d-editing programs like 3Ds-max and blender and such can create the displacement images for these items with special plugins

    and lastly, sl can also import collada .dae files, which are actual 3d-models. and it also supports rigging of a model to be worn by someone as part of the persons avatar and the item will bend smoothly with the movements of their avatar. like for example hair which smoothly bends along when you move, jeans which bend at the knees, or even complete armor-suits or such for example.
    it however doesnt 3d-models items which are animated itself

    anyways, thanx again for your compliment on the map. im currently very busy packing it to put it for sale on the SL marketplace

    itll be for sale for 3000lindens (the currency used in SL) which comes down to roughly 12dollar

        Second Life is boring. I played Second Life since 2006 on and off. The only fun thing i have seen in Second Life was the Role Play, such as police,fire,ems. Yes you can build a ton of stuff and market it to make money. A few people (NO JOKE) have become millionaire's off of Second Life. You can do stripping job's, escort services, realty services, and a ton of thing's to make money if your smart. I played it for the kick's and giggle's and even had 5 SIM's (servers) at one point fully custom built by Trent Admiral/Will Szymborska and a few other big named builders. Second Life is expensive to run a SIM, around 80$ per sim per week. Or you can buy a sim for $1,000 USD and pay a monthly maintenance fee of like $225-$275 something like that. The game in general is free to play, and alot of thing's cost money, but you can make money (LINDENS) in the game to purchase things, or use your own bank account or paypal etc to add money to the game. Bottom line is, the game is very addictive and can cost you a ton of money if you get involved with the wrong thing's, or you can not build/script to make your own stuff. I spent over 500$ in my first 6 month's playing, and im sure i wasted about $5,000-6,000$ in SIMS and thing's i bought for roleplay. Otherwise SecondLife is not worth a damn these days. Good luck if you try to get into it, It can be a big challenge.

            Alright, so im stoked that you have some sweet talent in SL. Far more then i ever had. Nice map, very detailed just like the original quake map. Love the shotgun as well. Very very good job on again. Still not enough to talk me back into re-downloading SL lol, oh wait, i still have phoenix viewer, the first version that phoenix came out with. lol Good job.

              thanx a lot for the compliment on my building wicked

              i worked really really hard on making the map to be 100% accurate,
              and checked and double-checked to make sure every piece is the exact same size as in-game
              gave me quite some pain in the head and some nightmares at moments to do work so extremely precise, especially cuz a few times i accidentially made a tiny mistake which made for parts to not align correctly and i had to look all over the map to see where exactly i made that mistake that caused the parts to not align, but it was totally worth it in the end

              but i dun think i have that much talent. i can only work with normal prims, i cant sculpt or make mesh or such, and i am just barely starting with scripting. what i made in that map is the first time i ever scripted everything for a build myself, and the scripts i used i made by modifying scripts a friend had made for me, looking for the lines i needed and copy and paste to combine those lines into a new script that did what i needed it to do

              another new cool feature that got added just recently which wasnt there in that clip yet... the wall-shooters are now working. a good friend scripted them for me, they work exactly like in-game, starting to shoot when you get close, and stopping when you get further away. and they of course use all the original sounds

              and thanx on the shotgun, its the breach 870 shotgun. best shotgun in sl imo
              .

                Yeah i got a few breach weapons in my inventory. I have a looooooad of scripts in my inventory also, and a ton of building stuff too. My inventory is probably over $2,000 worth of stuff. I have not played SL since i think um,, Emerald Viewer got shut down by linden labs, i downloaded Phoenix Viewer installed it and i think connected 1 time in october 2011. I miss having my 5 sims, but it was costly. 80$ per week USD, costed me 100,000 linden per week. lol.. I had no one helping me, but got a few donations and some renter's etc.. But over all i still paid in about 65,000-70,000 linden on my own. Maybe someday ill change my mind and get back into it, but the Role Play scene just died immensely and i thought it was time to give it up as it was very time consuming. I did some builds and scripting but never thought of building quake, now that you have accomplished most of the map building, i praise you for it.

                  yeah i myself have a ton of free fullperm scripts too which i got once years ago, it has scripts for pretty much anything you can think of and they're all fullperm. i always use those when i want to make something, and use them as help to make a script do what i want by looking at all the lines and picking out what i need

                  and yeah i know about the insane costs of having your own sim. if it wasnt so crazy insane pricey i would totally have my own sim too. but for now im more then happy with my 64x64 parcel with 937prims to use

                  wow emerald... thats long ago, lol. thats been ages since emerald got banned by LL. phoenix is good but firestorm, which is made by the same team as phoenix, is way better. its build on V2 base instead of old outdated inflexible V1 viewer code. its way more flexible and is capable of having features which couldnt be implented into phoenix cuz of the old outdated code which is inflexible.

                  anywho, thanx again on the compliments on my building
                  some time soon i will start rebuilding yet another map from quake, this time E1M3:The Necropolis, one of my fave maps of quake
                  the customer which had requested me to build that last map also requested me to build that map for him. currently im still on a break from building but some time soon ill start on building the next map

                  and theres also still several weapons which are in state of nearly-done, namely rocketlauncher and hipnotic lasergun. the modelling of them is done, and scripting is near-complete. so expect to see those soon too
                  (whenever the guy who always scripts the more complex items for me finally gets around to finishing them that is )
                  .

                    been quite a while since i posted anything cuz i got demotivated long ago when the guy who used to script my weapons for me became to busy to still continue scripting

                    but lately i got excited about building again after i had played out quake plus mission-packs in their original state without any add-ons at all, and re-discovered plauges amazing SNG model which is closer to original then ruohis and looks way more bad-ass imo <3

                    .

                    so... i started building again. so far ive made a new SNG in SL based on plagues model, and lightning gun based on ruohis LG model

                    NEW SNG BASED ON PLAGUES MODEL

                    scripted and all since i already had SNG scripts and could just transfer them from old one to new one
                    not for sale yet though, still have to get around to boxing them and putting them on marketplace

                    .

                    ZE LIGHTNING-GUN BASED ON RUOHIS LG MODEL <3

                    the arc at front between the rods is an animated sculptie, which looks really awesome.
                    the weapon is still unscripted as of yet, untill i can find someone who can script it for me

                    incorporated a little something in it from plagues LG which i really liked which was the glowing line on the side of the ammo, which makes it more obvious its not normal ammo but something else which powers the LG

                    .

                    also, i did a little update to the nails both NG and SNG fire. used to have some way to small prim nail. and now i have a great-looking sculpted nail which i also made bigger to be the size the nails are supposed to be.... NINE INCH NAILS

                    left old nails, right new ones

                    havent updated the sold versions yet to have the new nails yet, but ill get to that soon-ish
                    .

                      Excellent work splitterface! You should just learn how to script your own stuff. Let me show you something.

                      about hmmm, ?17? years ago I came across a manual for html. I learned it all in 2 hours (no bullshit). It's a stupid babytalk language even if you know nothing about code (I'm straying). That led me to check out javascript. I struggled with that a bit cause now we are talking about a real script language. I learned my arrays, loops, functions, etc.. I saw this thing that kept popping up called flash. I finally figured out how to steal that and bought some stupid SAMS Learn Actionscript in 24 hours book. I didn't even read the book. I immediately started building a game using the index in the back of the book to find answers. I realized something pretty quickly "this is a lot like javascript". Years and years passed, adobe buys flash and changes the entire friggin language. However, the only real difference was libraries, syntax and this thing I had never heard of called Classes. I learned all of that in just a few days by simply reading tutorials.

                      Fast forward a bit more and some kind of way I ended up needing to learn some PHP to accomplish something that I can't remember. I go perusing the PHP docs and I understood it "out the box". It wasn't identical to Actionscript but it was like a "cousin".

                      I skipped CSS and omitted SQL in my story because these don't apply to the point I am about to make. ITS ALL THE SAME SHIT! Learn one language and you should be able to rearrange your brain to ACCOMMODATE another. I could script every weapon, character, whatever you have and I don't know the first thing about scripting for second life. I can do this because all of these languages use the same stuff - loops, arrays, functions, etc. They even use the SAME loops (for, while, etc), an array is an array, a function is a function - we are talking about a slight difference of syntax and maybe scope.

                      People find this stuff daunting, complicated, confusing. In reality it's simple, redundant and practically english. Really the biggest challenge is learning the libraries and that's primarily something that comes with needing specific ones. I don't bury my nose in docs and learn every damn nook and cranny of a language. If I need something I google it (now I know). I use a "go" method. Fuk learning anything, just go and find the answers as you need them.

                      PHP procedural function
                      Code:
                      function nameOfMyFunction ()
                      {

                      }
                      javascript function
                      Code:
                      function nameOfMyFunction ()
                      {

                      }
                      actionscript function
                      Code:
                      public function nameOfMyFunction ():returnType
                      {

                      }
                      QC function
                      Code:
                      returnType() nameOfMyFunction =
                      {

                      };

                      same ol shit over and over. The same goes for just about all of it.

                      Going to bed now.

                      note: I wasn't offering to script for you, but not because I don't want to

                        @gypsy
                        second life which i am making all this is in has its own special scripting language.
                        and i am very busy learning it. its quite simple too, most of the functions are selfexplainatory what they do. i have already build simple things like doors that open and close, items that can be turned on and off with a switch, making a switch that you can push and that'll move inside the wall and then open a door, make a sequence of items that move in order.

                        however making something as complicated as a weapon is still far above my level of skill
                        i can make simple stuffs but something like a weapon i am not skilled enough for to be able to script. but im busy learning it more and more, and in time i will be able to do as complicated stuff like that

                        so far i am mostly just modifying existing scripts, find the functions in them i need and take those and make them into a new script. like the animated arc on LG i made by taking a script i had which made a light flash, and instead of making it change the amount of glow of a light i exchanged those for making it change to a different sculpt-map.

                        the second life scripting language, or LSL as its called uses quite basic language too.
                        'if this' - 'do this this and this'
                        'else if that' - 'do that and thus instead'
                        'wait this long' - 'and then do so and so'

                        lemme copy and paste in the script from the animated sculpt-map, so you can see how easy it is.

                        Code:
                        integer flipflop=1;
                        default
                        {
                             state_entry()
                            {
                                llSetTimerEvent(0.5);
                            }

                            timer()
                            {
                                if (flipflop=1)
                                llSetPrimitiveParams([PRIM_TYPE, PRIM_TYPE_SCULPT, "43e56b3e-3954-3cbf-222d-630af5aaa0da", PRIM_SCULPT_TYPE_SPHERE | PRIM_SCULPT_FLAG_MIRROR ]);

                                if (flipflop=2)
                                llSetPrimitiveParams([PRIM_TYPE, PRIM_TYPE_SCULPT, "127259ef-ff29-b385-1717-4ea84a06e6b3", PRIM_SCULPT_TYPE_SPHERE | PRIM_SCULPT_FLAG_MIRROR ]);

                                if (flipflop=3)
                                llSetPrimitiveParams([PRIM_TYPE, PRIM_TYPE_SCULPT, "7f3ae105-f00a-5e29-0cbf-32912ab45db9", PRIM_SCULPT_TYPE_SPHERE | PRIM_SCULPT_FLAG_MIRROR ]);

                                if (flipflop=4)
                                llSetPrimitiveParams([PRIM_TYPE, PRIM_TYPE_SCULPT, "67719b14-b43b-0bb1-11ae-c9c6ec87763b", PRIM_SCULPT_TYPE_SPHERE | PRIM_SCULPT_FLAG_MIRROR ]);

                                if (flipflop=1) flipflop=2;
                                if (flipflop=2) flipflop=3;
                                if (flipflop=3) flipflop=4;
                                if (flipflop=4) flipflop=1;

                            }
                        }
                        it starts in state 'flipflop 1' , has a set timer between states, and it continuously changes the state of the object to flipflop 1, 2, 3, 4, and then back to 1 again. and for each state it changes the sculptmap, and making it loop.

                        the big lines of numbers are the codes of the sculptmaps.

                        'primitive' or 'prim' is how the objects are called in secondlife

                            @second life which i am making all this is in has its own special scripting language.

                            @so far i am mostly just modifying existing scripts, find the functions in them i need and take those and make them into a new script.

                            BINGO!

                              sadly no updates on the LightningGun nor on the RocketLauncher, scripting for them is still being worked on... and the guy who was scripting them for me i havent seen in ages...
                              guess he got that i wasnt to impressed with his scripting, he kept making the biggest dumbass beginner mistakes all the time and i kept having to poke him everytime he made a new version cuz there was yet another bug or mistake in the weapon
                              and he kept asking outrageous prices for his scripting work, while i was pretty unimpressed with his bad scripts, they didnt even work for shit

                              so... i might have to go on a quest sometime to find me a new scripter to script those instead, one which does actually know what they're doing and which doesnt give me half-broken scripts 100times before they finally manage to make a script which isnt half-broken

                              havent really been busy with quake-stuff in sl lately, been to busy with stuff like DJ-ing and such, and i found love <3

                              .

                              was bored earlier today and was thinking like 'what can i do...' and then i realized there were still a couple weapons which i havent remade yet in sl
                              and then i doubted which weapon to make first, and i decided to do my all-time favourite weapon... the double-barrel shotgun
                              there's just something about shotguns i absolutely love.... perhaps its the fact that its so powerfull and that you dun just kill something with it but blast it to shreds

                              the weapon is still a work-in-progress, the modelling itself isnt even done yet. as you can see the handle isnt done and has a hole in it
                              and for now the weapon is just flat colors, ill get to adding the textures after the shape of the weapon is finished

                              .

                              PS yes i am wearing a bikini, screw you if you dun like it... its just a preview pic
                              also, if you are wondering what i am: im a kirin, a chinese mythological creature: http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_IX0pKxxsml...600/Kirin3.jpg
                              .
                              are you curious about what all there is out there in terms of HD content for quake?
                              > then make sure to check out my 'definitive' HD replacement content thread! <
