New DM server?

I think a DM FFA server would be good as well as a pickup team server, so long as there is a good map rotation. I kind of think it would be fun just teaming up with random people on maps people aren't used to and what not. Hell it would be fun to just play DM games on maps other than a select few dm maps.

Rage and dm.clanhdz.com are on the same server, just fyi. Both are run by Vis/Avalanche.

While I'm at it rage began as ca.quakeone.com, not bomber.quakeone.com. Phenom agreed to give up the name bomber to me so we'd have just have 1 server to promote to try to get CAx to catch on.

So far I'm gathering a DeathMatch FreeForAll with the ability to switch to TeamDeathMatch and have a nice and abundant DM map list in rotation.

This is starting to sound fun also!

Yes.. I know that the Bizarros like a good DM FFA from time to time. I would put a good map rotation in... UltraV has to be one of the maps... Castle of the Damned.... and some DM maps.. Maybe even Slipgate... ANd then a lot of others... And please don't have weaponstay...

I've been throwing the idea of opening another server similar to Dredd but instead of running CAX I was thinking TDM, I'd like to get some input from the people who would more then likely be playing on this new server

My idea so far...

DeathMatch, weapons don't stay/weapons stay (Its up to you), connect, choose a team color (RvB) and start fragging!

I know this seems simple but its the simplicity of it that I believe would make this fun. none of the pldown, waiting to play nonsense, simply connect, go red or blue and start deathmatching with no lines!

As you all know I am a fairly lenient admin who enjoys helping out the Quake 1 community grow and have fun together! Which is why I'm turning to the Quake 1 community to ask you if you would enjoy/play something like this server I have in my mind?

Feel free to post your comments/suggesitons/negativity here about this new DM server idea.

Of course it will not be governed by Quakeone.com and will not be under the same administrative rules as Rage.

I like normal weapon respawns, but I was thinking that allowing weaponstay would appeal to more people. Also, I feel that weaponstay actually works better on some maps (ex, trimp), and not as good on others (ex, dm6).

I didn't agree to give YOU anything, I gave the Bomber name to Quakeone.com and just because you are admin doesn't mean you run the server. If that's the case I guess you "run" Quakeone.com & Dredd since you have admin (currently) at both

From what I've heard talking directly to Vis, Avalanche owns the actual server, Vis is in control of the Quake 1 servers and he lets you admin them.

That's like Fatpipes owns the actual server, I run/pay for Dredd and I let you have admin access.

Just pointing it out since you like to bring up irrelevant information in a Dredd DM thread that has nothing to do with you.

Somehow I find parts of the above offensive. I guess because a lot of people came together to build Bomber and promote it and encourage the development and support of CAx.

Weaponstay is much fairer for people new to Quake online, and a basic FFA server is surely the first place anyone coming to Quake will go.

if you are going to run the new maps, dont have weapon stay, plus its ffa, unless you can totally control the level you will die just by the fact of #'s

Like I said before, if someone has an issue with the server, now called rage.quakeone.com, please report it directly to me. It is not my server, it is a community server hosted by clan hdz and run by quakeone.com. Anyone who actually PLAYS THE SERVER has a say in how it's run. If you only connect randomly to fuck around and complain about admins, well, no one cares what you think then .

I don't think, I know, that Yellow No.5 is the worst Quake 1 admin I have ever seen, despite his non-detectable skills he has as related to anything Quake 1. Also for some strange reason I've been banned from Rage without even playing there for about a week, yet today I get banned? Maybe Yellow No.5 can shed some light on this. I was not acting foolish on Rage, I wasn't offending people on Rage, I wasn't even talking shit when someone else threw an empty attempt to diss on Dredd. I suppose since Yellow doesn't like me he feels fit to ban me at will. I did send him a PM stating that I was pulling his admin status at Dredd since he does more negative support then anything for Dredd, maybe this threw him over the edge not being able to contemplate himself being a poor admin. Anyway, I dug the above information up within 20 minutes and some light search. You can whip up your own thoughts with'em
