New DM server?

You can't destroy every mod to get new players to it, then there's no point of even playing the shit. This was done to Ca in the form of CaX and look what happened.

No one destroyed CA+; it runs at ca.clanhdz.com on the same box as Rage.

The supposed "proponents" of CA+ style CA never put their money where their mouth is and instead of promoting ca.clanhdz.com, connect to Rage.

DM is back largely because of players like Turtlevan pimping CRMOD games on every server and promoting team deathmatch like a mad man.

CA+ is still around and there are some nice things about CA+, if you prefer CA+ you could promote it, connect to the server try to recruit games just like Turtlevan and co. did with CRMOD.

CRMOD didn't get busy from whining, Rage didn't get busy from whining and Dredd didn't get busy from whining.

The idea of making this DM server isn't to please you Omicron, its to be pleasing to newcomers who might not enjoy your "10 year rampage" on a mod you know better then you know your own nose and your attitude doesn't promote being a good image for any server that I know of. Just saying when you spam a server with your childish binds it shows people what type of a person you really are. Maybe thats why noone takes you seriously and the reason you are banned from Dredd and Rage. If you don't like the "newbie servers" then don't join just go back to your DM server and play there

In a sense, if you go fishing and the bait you use doesn't catch fish... do you just put more of the same bait on the hook?

I predict a flaming from Omicron now the fishing part might have been to complicated

I do agree that there has been catering to the newer players but it's neccisary to ease them into the game without getting frustrated. Omi, we both know that the pinnacle of the competitive Ca/Dm days (satanist,erols,cg2001,lincoln,teamplay) are LONG in the past, without this new injection of players within the last year or two quake would've no doubt taken its last breath so with that being said would you rather have a totally dead game or what we have now? it's a no brainer if you ask me.

Quake dm,ca,CTF, etc is basically null compared to many other games out today. Why try to hold onto a player thats been playing for 10 years? apparently they aren't going anywhere.. For new players to join and stay they have to enjoy the game! these days we get new players who are willing to try a few mods before they settle down into their preference.

The more options they have the better chance they will start their Quake 1 gaming with the whole picture in mind and not just *"Rage, or, Dredd because Rage doesn't play many maps." or "Shmack not Dredd because Shmack has leet the hook" I want to see more players playing more mods! If you want to stick with DM thats fine Omicron, I will always now where to find you

Yes,but if you change everything completely,then its less of DM.

as for stacking teams, it should be TDM, with randomly generated teams. No team selections. If this is to be a pub TDM server,then randomly assigned team (red or blue) is the obvious way to go.

and for the record,omicron should be abolished from Quake-Anything all together.I've never seen him do anything positive.For any Quake-based community,be it in-game or on a forum like this one.He's a thorn in any persons side who connects to a Quake server.

Not everything. Some modifications on the weapons (not touching 1, 2, 6, and 7), items available, power ups, and other misc things like ammo limit. If there's something in the list you disagree with, tell me and also tell me what you would do to improve it. That's what I'd like to hear from everyone.
