Textures look great. I was excited to try them so I used them with my current darkplaces install. Ouch, big mistake, total slideshow. I then installed the linked mac version of darkplaces and followed the posted instructions. It started up but all I got was a black screen and the explosions from the demo.
    I then saw this message:
permutation lightdirection glow failed for shader glsl/default.glsl, some features may not work properly!
permuation lightdirection failed for shader glsl/default.glsl, some features may not work properly!

I know Lordhavoc doesn't use or know much about osx, but I don't know who to ask. Any help or a point in the direction of someone who can help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

That did it. Thanks!! When paired up with the dlights, these textures are tits and don't completely murder my fps. I now have another good reason to play through quake again!!

Is it just me, or does it take 1-2 minutes to load a level with these textures??

I have been inspired to use a black font for now.

                DoH

Forgive me but I can't for the life of me get these textures up and running. UI've never had problem with any custom mod, map , etc. before. If someone could post idiot instructions I would be in your debt.

well after downloading the 3 part install of this texture pack ive found the problem the darkplaces engine when i try to load this .pk3 texture pack says that it is unable to load because it is not a .pk3 file

Korozive: Read the readme. (Should say something like "put into /id1/textures or something).

Venom2[RuM]: Have you unpacked the rar files?

holy crap, nice work rygel. too bad i won't be able to run it reasonably for at least a couple years when i can afford a new computer.

for those that were having trouble getting it to work... i had problems too. i could not for the life of me get darkplaces to load the pk3 file. what i did instead was unzip the pk3 into the dpmod folder and then run darkplaces.exe -game dpmod. the readme gives the instructions for doing it this way.

                          Texturepack-Ultra-for-Quake-DarkPlaces
                          --------------------------------------
                          From: Rygel

                          -------------
                          Installation:
                          -------------

                          -install Quake first :-)
                          -install Darkplaces
                          -install Darkplacesmod
-there you go to the dpmod/maps folder and delete the files b_exbox2.bsp and b_explob.bsp
-there you go to the dpmod/progs folder and delete the files v_dplight.mdl,v_dpnail.mdl,
                          v_dpnail2.mdl,v_dprock.mdl,v_dprock2.mdl,v_dpshot. mdl und v_dpshot2.mdl
-then you install the Texturepack, files allow to overwrite

If a new version of the Darkplacesmod comes out,
-execute it only somewhere else there and names it around, for example, dpmod1
-then as on top described the files extinguish
-now you go to the dpmod/maps folder of Quake and copy b_batt0.bsp,b_batt1.bsp,b_bh10.bsp,
                          b_bh25.bsp,b_bh100.bsp,b_nail0.bsp,b_nail1.bsp,b_r ock0.bsp,b_rock1.bsp,b_shell0.bsp and b_shell1.bsp
                          in dpmod1/maps folder,overwrite the files.
-then you go to the dpmod/progs folder of Quake and copy a_rock4.mdl,a_rock8.mdl,a_shell1.mdl and a_shell2.mdl
                          in dpmod1/progs folder,overwrite the files.
-now you can rename dpmod1 in dpmod, then overwrite the dpmod in the Quake direcory, its ready.

                          Now you install the Texturepack
-simply give the folder of Quake

The Texturemod requires 3.34 GB free space on your computer.
forgot to mention... for anyone that doesn't know, a pk3 file is really just a zip file, so to unzip the pk3 file, just rename the file extension to zip and then unzip it as you would any other zip file. if you are on windows and can't see file extensions, go to tools->folder options->view->uncheck "hide extensions for known file types".

hope this helps somebody out there--everyone owes it to rygel to at least see these beautiful textures in action.

Hi everybody, I'm new to this forum.
I tried to figure out how to install these textures but couldn't find a way to do it. Actually I have other mods installed for Quake One (qrack, qpro) and I'm not exactly a newbie. I have already installed Dark Places and the Mod and it works smoothly.

                              The real problem is that I cannot extract the big-sized .exe;
when I launch it appears for a few seconds the window of extraction then
the programs dies out and nothing else.

I tried it with Windows Vista and XP with 4GB Ram but it's the same,
I tried with Administrator privileges to no avail; I tried with two different
Computers but nothing changes, the .exe dies out a few moments after launching it...

What am I doing wrong? Can anybody help?
                              Thanks in advance!

I had problems installing it too. I did eventually get it to work.

I had to wait a *LONG* time for it to install. If I recall, it appeared to be frozen but it wasn't. It only looked frozen.

I do have to say that the installation process really was frustrating. I hope if Rygel updates this in the future he stores it in a RAR instead.
