make sure there is enough space on the drive where your windows "TEMP" folder is located.. or change the "environment variable" for the TEMP folder (system properties -> advanced tab) to a drive that has plenty of empty space..

Well...I waited and waited for hours but nope, nothing appears ever.
Also it's not present in the task manager, it simply died out few seconds after launching it. I'm sorry, I really wanted to see these textures,
if it was a .rar compression instead of .exe it had already worked smoothly.
If Rygel could make a Rar version of his Great Work more people could finally enjoy it... what about it Rygel ? Please ???

Yes I'm on VISTA (!!#@!!#*??!!), awful OS, stick with XP as long as you can! (though I even tried extracting the .exe with XP to no avail...)
Thanks for the .RARs! But, one question, once extracted does it give all the textures already uncompressed and ready to be placed in the quake directory OR once extracted you get the original big-sized .exe?
Please let me know and thanks again!

Thanks to LordHavoc there are now smaller packages available:
http://shub-hub.com/files/textures_r...epack-high.pk3 900MB
http://shub-hub.com/files/textures_r...pack-small.pk3 240MB
http://shub-hub.com/files/textures_r...epack-tiny.pk3 60MB
To be honest, I don't feel it's up to the "hype" but then I never liked those retexturing things.

At last I could install and try these textures and they are Great!.
I could run them between 30 to 50fps at 1280x1024 and max detail with my new recently purchased Quad Core x 2,4GHZ, 8600GT512MB, 4GB Ram. But these textures drained almost all Computer resources (!).
The shadows are not always perfect and there are many dark spots but nonethless they are perhaps the Greatest Quake Textures out there.
A big drawback is the *LONG* loading times when changing even the smallest setting and even between maps; it takes far too much time, up to 5 minutes! During these times you can almost take a nap...
However they were a worthy double-download and all in all a Great Work Indeed!
Thanks for uploading the .rar version and helping me out!

Success. I managed to get things up and running with the help of some savior who made the self installing version also known as (applications for idiots.) Absolutely amazing texture work here. I have played around with my config a bit but can't seem to get better than 30 fps and thats only maybe a 1/3 of the time.
If anyone can help me out I would be eternally grateful)
My specs are : AMD Athlon XP 3200+ 2.19 ghz
1024 mb ddr ram
Radeon X800 GTO 256 mb
WinXP service pack 2

try using this pk3 file instead
http://shub-hub.com/files/textures_r...epack-tiny.pk3
just put it in your id1 directory. These textures are the same but are a lower filesize.
