I play everywhere else. i.e. I'm on dm1.quaketx.com right now as I type this. This is cax.quakeitup.com is the only server I am banned on and its for reasons other than my actions on the server because I have not actually played on that server. I also just got a brand new connection so someone must have found me on a dm server and wrote down my IP to ban it.

sigh. how refreshingly weak this is. i'll protest as best as i can. and i like striker, as well as you, so it sucks both ways here, but he doesn't seem willing to budge. You guys are too much a like, that's why you don't get along.

I liked Mondello until he decided that he was ONLY Mondello. Actually in PMs to me (like 3 out of 3) he was a totally sane and rational person that was pretty cool and easy to chat with.

He let dumb shit consume him until he was assimilated by it. Maybe he will come back one day as himself and just relax.

On a side note I have one person from my clan [777] (from SOCOM FTB1 - PSP game) recruited to play Freeze Tag. I'm also about to hack 2 PSPs and have 2 more, plus a few other guys said they will play when SOCOm is taken offline (aug 31)

In theory I could probably get about 20 more. In reality they will probably be too busy playing console games.

if you start seeing people with names like [777]Patriot24, those are my bros and they are all good gamers and people. My clan doesn't hack/cheat/glitch on ANY game. It is actually not allowed period. As a matter of fact unfair or dishonorable play is not allowed period.

I only say this cause, I can bring gamers that love to game and have a good attitude to the table. You can't be in my clan otherwise. 5 years strong and currently expanding. However, it is almost entirely kids >13 & < 22.

To weigh back im on the omi is banned issue, he seriously is not banned. Its not in the ban.cfg. Omi has played there in the past, this particular server has been up since feburary 2012. Ive changed game host a few times and DNS name also. I will look into it more when i get back home. Also for those who have no idea, FREEZETAG is now on dallas.quakeitup.com.

/A personal comment, considering I'm not involved in any of this. Sure, Omi has been in a pain in the arse quite a few times before [I had to add an extra feature to ProQuake server to stop him doing something annoying after he got banned] but hey, personality flaws are what make us different people ... I just wanted to express my support for Omi. But I'm often on the "wrong side of these things" (Larry Mondello, etc.)

I played a bunch of games against "Wicked_lord" on dallas.quakeitup.com. He told me he was going to sleep and that I should go back to cax. Then I get back to cax and Wicked_lord is playing and continued to play for a long time.

I think I got kimp'd - but I don't know enough to know if what I am implying is even possible. If what I am implying is possible, I don't want to deal with this bullshit. I can just as easily not play quake online.

well lets handle one thing right now. Did you and I play like 10 games on dallas.quakeitup.com and did it end by you telling me that you needed to go to sleep? If the answer to either of those is no - then I was playing an impostor and now I am banned.

If the answer to those is no, then I can also guess who "guest" is (below). I'm sure he's laughing it up. Although I really don't see the point, I don't even know this dude, I suck at Quake and there is nothing to gain from this. It's just randomly malicious.

double posting since 2004:

Lets figure this out. Let's start with what we do know:

1) omi is banned but he is not banned in ban.cfg
2) I am banned and I'd be willing to bet my IP will not be in ban.cfg\
3) kimp can be in ban.cfg but it doesn't work

So this means that kimp can override ban.cfg to allow himself. which may mean that kimp can override ban.cfg to disallow others. Now, ban.cfg is obviously read sometime before a game connection. This file is "set" by the server as the one to check for "permissions". In order for it to be overridden, somewhere on the server would have to be told to look at a different file.

You need to look at your server config and figure out what file it is using to determine bans.

This is all speculation. I could be completely wrong (I can admit that), but if I am wrong I will come up with another path to take until I am right. This is a puzzle. I love puzzles and I am very good at them.

I have another step I am going to take which will narrow down some possibilities that I haven't said.

I understand that Larry "had to go". I agree. This is a Quake forum and people can muck up threads and bait people. And at the end of the day, if someone is here to try to perpetually argue/bait that isn't what the forum or the community is about.

Some of this clashes with the concept of "free speech", knowing you can ignore people or walk away from conversations. But that isn't actually perfect and doesn't fully work.

Admin bans player at mod level =

player is banned temporarily, upon warp map / mode change the temp ban list clears.

Bans on the ban file require logging into server, editing ban file,saving.

Kimp is a fucking ****roach that will slip through any crack, I have suggested this....

Currently kimp can connect as he see's fit, and is able to slip through the cracks. I've wanted to fill those cracks for ages now,but lack the technical prowess do such things.

Baker/Rook and possibly yourself are the only people capable of combating Kimp at the server-level/mod level. What we've had set in place for "Kimp Control" hasn't been adequate for a long time. From 2009-2010, when Speaknow was the most popular server in CAx and during quite heavy NQ gaming traffic, Kimp would get banned from server ; crash server / reconnect ; repeat indefinately until everyone decides to quit.

Lately that fucking douche bag DDoS's me off server's, which I've reported to my ISP.

It is unfathomable why you would be banned Gypsy, as you're gaming time w/ me yesterday was nothing but fun. I never witnessed you spewing trash talk / being a dick, or cheating,or etc ETC. Kimp shouldn't have a vendetta with you, and he shouldn't have admin.

I don't mind with the concept of free speech,I mind the concept of complete douchery. Having 4-5 Quakeone.com accounts and 3 of those fn accounts being banned,and you as Admin know this and just shrug your shoulders, cause it isn't affecting you. You're idea of "to hell with the current problems / im painting a picaso future / forward thinking" leaves a heaping pile of shit for us who are still trying to enjoy the game as a community to deal with.

Is that a challenge? I accept. However I can only accept if I can see how the server operates. Unfortunately, with the service that Wicked_lord has, I'm not even sure that he has the level of "server vision" that I need. There are always workarounds of course but these would involve patches that would be weak.

Then you could see everything all the same. I have tested ban's on myself,and the ban mechanism isn't broken, there's just a need for more ban file checking more often imo.
