I'm pretty sure if there's a box with an A in it next to the server, that it means the server has the anti-wallhack enabled.

Originally posted by cd57 View Postgettogamer, the reason I brought up this idea of the league was for some fun and competition. I wanted anyone who wanted to play ctf to join up. That being said I also don't want people who if they get annoyed over some little incident, are going to quit. Most of the active ctfers these days are quite mellow and nice, there are a few exceptions. We usually play a few games of ctf every night on ctf.clanhdz.com, so stop by and play. I want to try and get an accurate measure of everyones skill level, so we are able to keep teams as evenly matched up as possible. I think this is the key to keeping the league successful and active.
Baker, sorry I didn't address your earlier post. It seems like this is getting serious enough to where I'm almost positive it's a go, so if you'd put it on the front page that would be cool.
Well, this sounds like you have it under control and would be worth particpating in. Just to clear things up, I'm not some wuss that can't handle some hysterical realism, but when things get ugly it's kind of like going to a job you hate.
So I'll say it now, I'm not good anymore and am very unpracticed, but I would love to play in this. I'm going to sign up now.
We need a handicap system. Mine is 50 points.getogamer

bonjour lassies
for all the new peeps who are interested in the tourney, i think you should try to play tonight (sunday) at the CTF servers so the designated people can put you in the right seeding.
seems like we have about 24 players right now and there should be a couple more left to sign up (jbone for instance)
one suggestion - there are some maps that cannot be played as 2 x 2 maps even though we play them all the time. ctf2m8, ctf3m7, (arguably) ctf2m3 and (arguably) ctf5. I'd like to add dm6 - it could be a pretty awesome 2 x 2 map with the right players.

you guys should mention this to a couple of old CTF'ers , it just might convince them to come back. and there was this fella named BRUCE that day, someone should tell him to sign up. he also said he will try to convince a couple of old school players to come back.
Nah, capturephobopolis can't be a 2x2 map. 4 RL's 2 Quads is not the only reason why I think its wrong, its just the size of the map. we need to start organizing the tournament from now (even though it's not gonna start tomorrow). Let's make sure its organized well so we enjoy it and just maybe can make CTF even bigger than it already is.
another thing - I think we need to start playing more in the afternoons, I dont see a problem why not? I'll idle on the servers for a while and see what happens.

I'd like to give it another couple more days before we name the teams, to make sure we get everyone signed up that wants to play. We also need to start updating the website daily, for the people who are signed up. That way we keep everyone's attention while updating everyone on the progress.
Here's a few ideas I had on matches. First I think we should just do the standard best of 3 format. My ideas on the actual matches are, we submit 3 maps each week. Each team can select the map of their choice out of those 3 to play, so one map could be played twice if both teams decide to select it. The tiebreaker map will be set each week and will probably be one of the maps out of the three. I like this because it gives the teams the choice of map, so if their is a map out of the three that both teams dislike playing it doesn't force them to play it. I need to determine which maps we are going to use as well. I listed the main ones I wanted included, but if anyone else has ones they think should be included, or excluded let me know.

I'm on my break between class and work, so I checked to see the signups and we are now up to 28. I'm wondering what everyone thinks of a new idea I've thought of. What if we still kept this tournament a 2 v 2, but we assigned each team 3 players? I see some negatives and positives to this, but I don't know which one outweighs the other. If one person can't make a match then we can still have the match, but on the flip-side if a person feels like one of the players is a big weakness they will exclude them from playing. I was thinking we could make a rule where each player has to play in a certain % of the games, to ensure that everyone gets a lot of playing time. The other part to this is we could make the matches 3 v 3, or 2 v 2, depending on whether we get all 6 players to show up or not. If we did this we could simply break players up into 3 tiers and assign a player from each tier to a team. I know of a couple of people who are still going to sign up, which will put our numbers above 30.
One other thought before I head out, what do you guys think of player trades? Once we divide teams up I figured we could do an option where if a couple players want to swap teams and it is a equal trade (approved by the guys running the league) then we could allow it. I wanted to do this in we end up with a couple players who don't want to be on the same team. Just a thought.

Due to the fact we are playing once a week with 28 people, everyone will need server time especially if it's a 3 game match, so 3v3 makes more sense. The maps are also more so 3v3 friendly than they are 2v2. Only 2-3 maps are 2v2 built but for the most part CTF is a 3v3 or 4v4 man game.
There are some people who signed up that I don't suspect will even play once, such as Krix. Krix never plays CTF and I can't see a reason why he'd start for a tournament. I do not believe he even knows the maps, nor how to hook. You may have to cancel out some of these signups to ensure the quality of playing is higher.
