Omi is not the only person on speaknow that Spotted you botting. You were called out by several players. I viewed the demo and its apparent that you were using an AIMbot. Most others who viewed the demo agree. I don't care what you say or who's level you put me on. The decision to ban you was mine and mine alone.
We may have lost a "long time quaker", but I'm sure we will be able to pick up and move on without you. I'm sorry I ruined your life. And I'm sorry you have to get off your dad's computer and actually go out into the world and find something to do.

I hate doug as much as the next quaker, but that demo doesn't prove anything. Most of the time it was omi's point of view. That business at RA is suspicious at best, certainly not conclusive proof. I say unban him until someone can provide indisputible evidence.

If you're going to do something as drastic as perm-banning someone from one of the two CA servers in existence I feel there should be concrete proof in the form of demos. The "I have cheated and so I know when someone else cheats" argument is pretty lame and shouldn't be a factor when banning someone.

Allow people not using those clients to connect, anyway. There are some people who may prefer something else (DarkPlaces) or can't do cheat-free for one reason or another (Dreadful uses a Mac).

But these #2 ppl are flagged when they connect and marked on the scoreboard.

Already i look at the "connected with ..." message when people connect... if they are a no namer and play radically, i do an identify, if not found i ask, then i ask again. then I type eff, and then I jot down the ip addy then go about my business. After this becomes a "hmm" factor i back track and tighten bolts. Not everyone can do this and so, measures need be added, i know. But a lock, only keeps an honest man honest. It's crazy to think that someone will take the time to cheat 16 people in a game, that costs them nothing. You might as well youtube f**king your cat, you'll get more popularity from that.

Some QW clients have Q_modified, u can spew a list of archaic crcs about the models/gfx that arent standard. Cheatfree was a valid method, against aimbots, and proxybots, and hacked models. The exploits that broke it are being fixed and cheatfree should still hold its ground. CAx already boots most oldschool bots "out of the box". Beyond that, play with your friends and respect the other player, fuck the bot shit it only kills the game for a few lame frags.

LOL!

What is even sadder is that you admit of cheating yourself with the bots - once a cheater always a cheater - and you obtained Doug's full IP illegaly. All this is more devastating evidence against you, more then him, that you are a lowly dog and piece of shit hacker that will do anything to win even with a low ping. LOL!

Dread, my strong oppinion is that perm-ban is not necessary. Chances are he will not be doing it again, all there is needed are incremental bans, for bots: 1 month, 3 months, 5 - etc., and wallers should get less: 2 weeks, 1 month, 1 month 2 weeks - etc.. Dread is a great guy and I urge you to attempt this banning system instead. I am completely sure anybody can change, as they really want to play. If by the 5th time he does not stop then you can consider perm-ban but as of right now it is too soon.

And Doug if you are reading this, you can always come to Shmack and play there as a 2nd chance until and if you do get unbanned at the CA servers. But I warn you, if I do catch you cheating I will demo you and I turn you in faster then your bot can aim. DO NOT DO IT, IT IS NOT WORTH IT! I do not know Slot's policy on ban periods - they tend to be permanent - but I hope you see this incident as "the calling" and you stop and get on the right path - good honest gameplay - and improve and develop yourself from there. In CAL (Cyberathlete amateur league) in Counter-Strike, which is the standard league everyone plays in to determine who is best, when someone gets caught cheating they get banned for something like 2 years.

In OGL (Online gaming league) for Quake 3 / UT / whatever when someone gets caught, again banned for practically life.

Any community of players ban cheaters for a very substantial amount of time. In a game like quake 1, where most of the time cheats are indetectable, it is vital that we use opportunities where we can ban the cheaters to remove them from our ranks.

Anyone asking for him not to be banned is simply doing it to go against me. So of course it's not surprising that these same people flame me in the same posts that they ask doug not to be banned in. The demo is conclusive, like it or not, he aimbotted. Now he's banned, and he deserves it for aimbotting, end of story.

If we can't ban one cheater that 5 people and a demo catches, who the fuck can we ban for cheating? A more secure environment with less cheaters will only promote more gameplay, and this sends a clear message to future cheaters not to even try it. Zero tolerance should be the policy, not "come back in 1 month its ok"

Also when he wallhacked for a year on Rage and Speaknow before the anticheat, I didn't see anyone banning him then. So here is how I understand it. People can cheat as much as they want. Then when they FINALLY get caught, they should only be banned for 3 days, and then let back into the community because "they can change." Anyone advising this needs to shut the fuck up. Anyone that knows what an aimbot looks like know this kid did it, and will continue to toggle it in future play. I don't want to spec him everytime I'm on speaknow, I don't want someone to have to watch him the beginning of every round where he will use it the most, it's not fair to everyone that plays WITHOUT CHEATING. Aimbotters take advantage mostly when no one is watching, and I'm not a full time quake babysitter, people should be able to play and not have to worry about a 14 year old cheater with something to prove.

I heard that, and have already given it some thought. But doug has been, in many cases, and probably always will be somewhat of a problem and quite the handful. 3-days = not enough. He will come back, and alas! The Problem Child is back.
