Aggression Rangers beat on old friends in NULL
10/4/99 -=- Bam -=- Severian =AR=
Round one: 2 - 1
Round two: 1 - 0
Final score: 3 - 0
Trivia Time: What does BAM stand for? NULL and Aggression Rangers met tonight on a map that both clans played more than once in TF. =AR= has always had an affinity for Midori's maps (Ironfort would be a great conversion for TFC) and when BAM came out it quickly became one of =AR='s favorites. Getting to play a match again on BAM and against a veteran clan like NULL is about as good as TFC is gonna get for me. The match lived up to my expectations. Round 1 on =AR='s Citadel saw NULL with about a 100 ping adv but most players seemed to be in playable range so ultimately ping was not a factor in round 1. As usual most of both team's defences spawned in the basement so there would not be any quick caps. The scouts were mowed down in both bases while the defences got comfortable and settled in for the anticipated war of attrition. After the intial waves of scouts and medics came the mirvs and rockets designed to chip away at the defenders until 1 or more of them respawned in the upper room, leaving a hole which the dammed scouts could scurry though (do you think maybe I play on D?). About half way into the round both defenses cracked enough to alow the flag to slip out. NULL didn't let their flag go quietly, forcing =AR= to work it literally a couple feet at a time into our fort and eventually to a pitched battle at our cap point. At this point things got real hectic in the =AR= baseme! nt to the extent I didn't even notice the 2nd =AR= cap. NULL came awfully close to a 2nd cap when at one point they had moved =AR='s flag to the ramp room where it soon became the center of attention. Between the mirvs and conc greandes I felt like a ping pong ball in the lottery. I don't know how or why, but the flag returned.

2nd round was played on one of the MSG servers where it seemed like NULL had somewhat of a lesser ping advantage. Since we had 2 players occasionally reaching into the 500-700 range we had to redajust our strategey. Again the intial scout rushes proved fruitless. Then came the erie silence that always proceeds the storm. Soon enough NULL began to batter away looking to tie things up. There was no place to hide between the grenades and mirvs that seemed to be spawning right out of the floor. More than once the =AR= basement was empty after a battle which left no living thing in its aftermath. About half way thru the round NULL wiped out the defenders but luck was on =AR='s side as at least 2 defenders respawned in time in the basement to catch the flag in the spiral hall and after a 2nd touch at the base of the spiral. At this point I do believe I saw a kitchen sink thrown at me while I was trying to reach the spiral from upper respawn. There seemed to be NULL everywhere and I must have died 4-5 times just trying to wade thru the mess in the ramp room back to postion. On my last successful run back to the base of the spiral I found that our flag had returned. Shortly after or during this time 1 of the NULL players began to have connection problems and it seemed to me he was dropping and re-entering the game. I don't know exactly what was going on as NULL was keeping me too busy to do anything but fight for my life. =AR= pulled out a cap to go up by 2 and I can't say whether the connection problem they were having was a factor or not as NULL wouldn't complain and d! id not offer any excuse. NULL pressed the attack even harder and I swear at one point one of our guys called out that their entire clan was coming down the spiral. It was only a slight exaggeration. As always another great match with NULL. Just be kind to us next week when you write up the report after our match on my not so favorite map, RUN (and spam spam spam spam...) Answer to trivia question: BAM was made for and in honor of an alliance between 2 of the more respected TF clans, Braveheart and Mercenaries. The alliance, known by the acronym BAM, was formed in anticipation of the expected 30-40 player matches that were expected to develope with the advent of TF2. Anyone besides Kinlord or Sector have the right answer?
(omg, TFC writeups are novels! What did you get me into Potato??? - zang)

[2%] homogenizes [C-D]
10/4/99 -=- Bam -=- Udder[2%]
Round one: 1 - 1
Round two: 2 - 1
Final score: 3 - 2
We found a great match with [C-D], even though they were a man down both rounds. We managed to come in with a defensive strat that worked this week, leading to a much more organized setup (thanks |CA| for showing us how important binds are). Both rounds were on a new server, as the milk bottle was pinging high for all. We played on Trix's spud server, since his comp was available while he worked out. Rnd 1 saw a heavy d from [C-D] as they were trying to bring it back to their server a close game, We played fairly conservative bringing only 4 men on o. As Pasteurized (formerly Athlon) finally managed to get the flag to their spiral, we became more excited about getting a cap than Curd the first time he saw college women. We sent two extras for the flag directly into round after ropund of nail grens and mirvs. Meanwhile, [C-D] increased their push for our flag and managed a cap just as Milkman figured out where the cap point was. Both d's settled back and rou! nd 1 ended tied at 1 cap each.

We then tried to go to [C-D]'s server but after serveral restarts pings were horrible, around 1000 for all players, so we came back to our server for round 2. Once again we saw avg. pings sub 100 while [C-D] was around 250. We played the first 10 min without Whey, subbing for Milkman. Our d was solid as was [C-D]'s as there were no touches until the 12th min. we managed 4 more touches but [C-D] held at the 15 min mark. [C-D] managed their first touch at 16:30, and just befroe we killed it, Nemesis grabbed the damn thing, making it to the top of the spiral. Two more quick [C-D] touches saw the flag move to the bridge where we held strong. We killed the bastards as they grabbed our flag 7 times there, but unfortunately Kermit grabbed it and leapt out of our graps like he was getting away from Miss Piggy. [C-D] capped at the 20 min mark and immediately fell back on their lead. At 22 min Udder pulled up to O while Pasteurized dropped to regain the sound he lost early in the match. at 24 min Curd pulled to o as milkturck fell back on d in the ramproom. Udder grabbed the [C-D] flag at 25:30 but had his path blocked by a frie! ndly soldier and soon found a rocket in his ass. Touches ensued from Whey, Carton, Hoju, Udder, then Pasteurized. Pasteurized capped at 28 min for the tie (whewww). Hoju was on the flag quicker than the [C-D] d could reset, and we had quick grabs by Whey and then Carton who capped for the lead just after the 29th min. [C-D] didn't have enough time remaining to counter with a cap of their own, only able to get a scout past our ramp room before time expired. This is why we play tfc. Or maybe its for the ladies? Thanks for the great game [C-D] look forward to playing y'all with a ufll eight.
(omg I could publish a book with all of this content! woohoo!)

[SiGiL] does the cryptoanalysis on |CA|
10/4/99 -=- Bam -=- [SiGiL]Bloodbath
Round one: 7 - 2
Round two: 0 - 0
Final score: 7 - 2
Well first I would like to say great game to everyone who played, this has been our toughest match in a while (except for that damn [CE] game :) ) Okay Round1 was played on |CA|'s server with pings being heavily in [SiGiL]'s favor ( i'm talking by 150ms ) but |CA| did not complain at all. The |CA| offense pushed the [SiGiL] defense throughout the match, I tell you when I left my base I ran into at least 3 |CA| guys every time and it hurt. Somehow, however, the [SiGiL defense held them for the first 5 minutes. At the same time the [SiGiL] offense was busy trying to take out eerr I mean spam out :) the |CA| sentry with out dying. Finally at the same time as |CA| [SiGiL]Airman was able to pull the flag our of the |CA| base..both teams got a cap 5 minutes in. The map continued but it seemed as the match went on |CA| sent more guys from D and allowed [SiGiL] to score 6 more times while |CA| managed to yoink another cap at the end of the Round. Round1 ended 7 caps for [SiGiL] and 2 for |CA|, a great match for both teams

Round2 was also played on |CA|'s server again pings in [SiGiL]'s favor. It seems that this map |CA| wanted to keep the scores a little lower and they put a few more on defense. Both teams tried to score with their limited offense yet no one seemed able to pull that flag far enough out of the flag area to score. Round 2 ended with a score of 0 - 0. Final score [SiGiL] 70 and |CA| 20 Once again I would like to thank |CA| for a great match and we hope to play against them or aside them in future battles.
---
from |CA|...
What can we say. We had a bad night, and SiGiL had a good night. hehe Things just didn't go our way tonight and we paid the price. I must say, SiGiL will be a clan to look out for among the other new clans that are starting to spring up. Pings were in their favor, but only by a small margin. Rd1: We tried a little something different with our strategy, and unfortunately, it did not work out. So we made the best of it, and somehow, in between all the little mirv bomblets laying around, we squeaked out a measely two caps while SiGiL taught us a lesson, and managed to cap 7 times. Rd2: We went back to a more traditional strategy, and although we didn't get the caps we wanted, we did manage to hold them to a standoff. GG SiGiL, and next time, hopefully things will be different ;) |CA|Longbow

[FOoM] marvels at [30+]
(bonus points for figuring that headline)
10/4/99 -=- Bam -=- [FOoM]McBain
Round one: 3 - 2
Round two: 7 - 1
Final score: 100 - 3
[30+], what a great bunch of guys. They spent so much time scouting us on our servers before the match, I feel like I know them. ;-) In a public game earlier in the day, we asked them if it would be okay to push the match back 15 minutes. They were happy to comply. Thanks guys- we didn't have a sub available. The match got underway on their server, where pings were about even. They got a first rush in, and snuck our flag out before our defense was established. Once again, FOoM trailed early. Arggggg.... We started touching repeatedly, and eventually captured their flag. Offenses and defenses were tight. At one point, our defensive engineer dropped from the server, removing his sentry from the game. We scrambled to get more back on D, but they scored it again. We squeaked two more caps, then nervously awaited the game's end. Final score: 30-20, FOoM

Next game was held on the FOoM server. Two of our members had connectivity problems, this made us quite uneasy. 30+ again showed remarkable patience as they let our players get themselves sorted out.... The round began, and we repelled their first couple of attacks. They got one out of the flag room, and inched it back to their base. During this time, they might have sent more forward, because we scored pretty consistently until the end of the match. Final score: 70-10, FOoM. [30+] were great opponents, we'd be happy to play them anytime. The combination of our inexperience with the map and the expression "with age comes wisdom" had us quite concerned (also those critics that always pick us to lose). GG [30+]

Kindred over Total Harmonic Destruction
10/4/99 -=- Bam -=- [THD]Buckeye
Round one: 3 - 0
Round two: 3 - 1
Final score: 6 - 1
The internet gods apparently do not like THD. Another big match for us and once again we suffer through horrible packet loss on the away server. Not to take anything away from KiN. They are an awesome squad and beat us good both maps. But, we are so tired of showing up for a match on a server we usually ping well to only to find the hell that is major packet loss. Anyway...round1 was on KiN's server. KiN sported a hefty ping advantage. Both squads started slowly. Caps were very hard to come by early on (shocker I know). KiN kept pounding away with the heavy soldier/demo offense until they were able to bring one home. Our defense was never able to fully recover and KiN brought home 2 more. The THD offense felt like blind mice running around in a maze. We tried to skate past the incredible soldier defense of KiN but had little luck. We managed a handful of touches, but never got any serious flag movement. Round 1 ended 3-0 in favor of KiN.

Round 2 moved to THD's Go Bucks server. Pings were dead even most the match in the mid 100's. Things started slow again. KiN brought the same heavy O and eventually snuck a cap out about 15 minutes into the round. They got another shortly there after. The THD offense was having much more luck this round with multiple touches and we finally got a cap about 20 minutes into it. KiN capped one more time for a final score of 3-1. KiN played great game and we have no complaints with them at all. We just wish things were on a fairer playing level overall. But, this is the current nature of the beast we call online gaming. GG KiN. We look forward to playing you soon! [THD]Buckeye

][nsurrection destabilizes Digital assasins
10/4/99 -=- Bam -=- ][-DeMize
Round one: 2 - 0
Round two: 1 - 0
Final score: 3 - 0
Round 1 took place on ][ home server. We had a slight ping advantage, naturally. [DA], Digital Assassins, attacked frequently with HW's, scouts, spies, soldiers, and medics, but they were never able to bring the flag out of the well defended ][nsurrection basement. Our offense; however, was sucessfull and was able to cap twice in the round.

Round 2 took place on [DA]'s server. Again, [DA] got a few touches on the flag but were never sucessfull in bringing the flag out of the basement. On the other hand, the ][ offense didn't do as great as it had in the first round and we only capped once this round. The total score for both rounds was ][-3, [DA]-0. Good game [DA], we had fun! Definately look foward to our next match! - ][-MulchMan

BlackSun retires the Elders
10/4/99 -=- Bam -=- [BlkSun]Trotski
Round one: 10 - 1
Round two: 15 - 0
Final score: 25 - 1
Black Sun practiced hard for this new map and I guess the results show it. We didn't know much about Elders going into this match, so we prepared for the worst. We started with a four-man defense, then three, then eventually moved to a two-man D at one point. Perhaps the two-man D was a little much because Elders managed to get one cap during the first round. Round 1: BlkSun 10, Elders 1.

We played the second round a bit more conservatively and this actually resulted in a higher cap count in the end. Round 2: BlkSun 15, Elders 0.
Both rounds were played on Black Sun's server and pings were relatively even. I believe a good time was had by all.

DWD outmaneuvers ENs
10/4/99 -=- Bam -=- Mr...Bubbles
Round one: 4 - 0
Round two: 7 - 0
Final score: 11 - 0
First off i'd like to thank ENs for playing like good sports, their leader method impressed our clan tonight. Game started with our o on the flag and we kept touching it, push, pull, whatever it took our D was up to the task with no touches at all by ENs first round. ENs D was up to the task and they fought a tough game round one ended 4-0 our favor. Round 2--- DWD offense capped faster than first game, I know we kept ENs busy cause our D saw little action. Vader, gotblood, dove, vato, nitro really came through for us on O, while on D X,viagraman were standing tough. We are both new clans in a strong league ENs will be a very good clan it takes time, as we are finding out.Good luck to ENs in the future as i know we will see more of them. Oh yea second round ended 7 caps to 0 over favor.

Uranium 238 puts on nike's for WOLF
10/3/99 -=- RUN
Round one: 11 - 1
Round two: 9 - 0
Final score: 20 - 1
After losing last week to =AR= by a 1/2 cap, we were ready to come out swinging this week. Nevertheless, Vr_ grabbed the flag a few seconds into the match and carried it to the loading dock to jumpstart the game with a forceful 1-0 lead. After that, we opened up our communication channels and started pressing forward through the fireworks and gore to relay the flag back and forth 11 more times. Since we had never played RUN before, we did not really know what to expect, so we focused more on communication than organization, and it seemed to pay off 13.5 seconds into the match when nobody knew what the hell was going on. Then we came home. Unfortunately, WOLF decided that the best defense was to lay down enough grenades so that nobody could move. Anywhere. We were not convinced that their strategy would pay off, and by the end we had managed to move the flag back and forth 9 times. The server was a lowly PIII 450 with 128M of RAM on multiple T1s, and the (dare I say spam?) liberal application of ordinance made the game a 'little' choppy for everyone... even those of us who were lanned up... but that's another story.

The story here comes down to the friendly fire frag counts at the end of the second round (we don't have the log from round 1):
U-238 teammate kills: 51
WOLF teammate kills: 142
Moral of the story here......Spam doesn't pay! Good game and we hope to see ya round soon! :)

Brotherhood of Soldiers defy Mind over Matter
10/3/99 -=- RUN
Round one: 8 - 4
Round two: 3 - 2
Final score: 11 - 6
Whew, I must first say that this game had its ups and downs. Beginning with tedious and doubtful setbacks, due to network instability the match was moved first from Brotherhood of Soldiers Virginia Tech dual T-3 to Mind over Matter's astoundingly good Canadian cable server. Both rounds were played on MoM's server and they ended up with a noticable ping advantage. With that aside, and everybody finally on the server, the prematch was underway. Run provides an entertaining prematch to say the least, since every player can freely move about the map killing everything in sight. Round 1 started out, well...never having played Run in a clan match, I would have to say it started fairly fast. Spam was a minimal part of the game and was used with tact as multiple defenders were gibbed or driven back from the capture points they were defending. BoS controlled the flag a bit more than MoM, managing to make it past their sentry guns and soldiers a few more times than MoM ran their scouts right through BoS's defenders. There was a short break between rounds, and I believe a possible rescheduling of round2 was discussed between clan leaders.

Round2 started on MoM's server with BoS adopting a strategy based upon a few factors. Taking IGL's point system into account, the maps unconventional method of capturing flags was capitalized on by BoS. The flags were obtained and protected, keeping the score low and scoring only when absolutely safe. MoM began to lose a few players into the game while a few of BoS's players began locking up. At the buzzer MoM had 5 players remaining to BoS's 8. To close round2's commentary, the strategy turned out to be dissapointing to both teams. Perhaps more thought should have been placed into the post game effects of such an approach to the map. Preventing a runaway round was of the top priority, choosing impedance over glory. Thank you so much MoM for the great game, patiently tolerating various delays, and the previously mentioned marvelous cable server. - Jaden

Steel Maelstrom forges loss for CompWorld Frag Force
10/3/99 -=- RUN!
Round one: 18 - 0
Round two: 14 - 4
Final score: 32 - 4
We started out on our server 'Steel Maelstrom [SMS] TFC' with a slight ping advantage avg. 200's to their 300's. We started capping early with IMHO a great zoning defence plan. It worked well, with our HWG's and Soldiers keeping the flag caps cleared for our Medics and Scouts to run in, cap, and dash off before the Mirv gren's from the opposing team started ripping through the cap areas. Although we did take quite a few hits from those Mirvs we managed to get a scout or a medic back to the flag before they had taken the flag. It was quite a close call a few times with them near the cap point but our HWGs kept them from capping.

Round2 on CWFF's server. Our pings were quite a bit higher. avg'ing out at 450's for both teams. They got an early cap and we were getting blown away by their demos, But I think that got our team in gear and we came back harder capping the next flag. their defence was even better this round and it was hard to get our scouts and medics through their thunderstorm of grenades. CWFF went on to cap 3 more times during this round but SMS really put on the gas and capped 13 more times. CWFF is a really great clan, they were great sportsmen. Im looking forward to playing them again! Great games CWFF! - Cheers!, Enon`[SMS]

Clan Erinyes almost lose to Kindred

Round one: 0 - 0
Round two: 3 - 2
Final score: 3 - 2
Rd 1 was on TMAL where pings were about even, rd started with a quick rush by both teams but neither got a cap. The rd quickly degenerated into a defensive game, with a couple nice touches by both clans but no pay dirt. Rd ended 0-0.

RD 2 moved to KiN's server where pings were again about equal. The rd started with quick runs again, and again no pay off. It appeared this rd was going to go as last rd, but around the 10 minute mark a KiN dropped, then our Engineer saw huge pl and eventually got dropped, followed by several more KiN dropping. Our eng was quickly replaced but KiN had problems replacing the 2 they were down, and for the rest of the match they'd replace or have someone reconnect to get dropped again. Needless to say the CE offense pulled out a cap in the initial confusion, and later a second and third cap. To KiN's credit they started back with an impressive offense and were able to bring back 2 caps and were working on a 3rd when the rd ended. Final rd 2 3-2 CE. Final Score CE 3-2, CE wishes to thank KiN for their superb sportsmanship and wish we could have won on different terms. - Krunnch-[CE] - www.erinyes.com

100k.devil.legion win over Aggression Rangers

Round one: 5 - 8
Round two: 11 - 1
Final score: 16 - 9
What a great weekend. 100kdl and AR took to the battlefields on Run for its first week in IGL. Round 1 Immediately, AR took a nice lead and was able to hold flag control during most of the map's first half. After finding our groove, 100kdl was able to pull off a nice flurry of caps keeping the game to a one point deficent. However, AR's aggressive scouts were able to swing two more well deserved caps taking them to a 8-5 lead at the end of round one. 100kdl 5 - AR 8 Round 2 Round 2 started with a little pep talk and re-organization from 100kdl's leaders. The round started with both teams grinding for the yellow flag and 100kdl eventually becoming victorious. 100kdl pulled off a few more caps, but AR's defense was very tough. After digging through the waves of AR's talented soldiers and scouts, 100kdl arose with a 10 point lead for the end of the round. 100kdl 11 - AR 1 Final Score: 100kdl 16 - AR 9 AR, thanks for the great game guys. A fun match, both rounds played on the CdG server. Amazingly, Kollectiv underpinged CdG by about 75 or so, but it was playable. Nothing too noteable about the match, standard RUN fare - spamming and capping. Seemed to work fine under the 9vs9 format. Good game Kollectiv, thx. Barker[CdG]

cM makes NULL eat its vegetables
10/3/99 -=- RUN
Round one: 15 - 3
Round two: 5 - 5
Final score: 20 - 8
Ok, first round took place on cM's new server. The pings were about the same with NULL at about a 50 pt. advantage at times. Entering the game, we noticed NULL only had 7 players to our 9. But, after getting a run for our money against CdG in a scrim earlier, we didn't know what to expect. We did some fine tuning ourselves with the moving of positions, and the match was ready to go. The match started out with some confusion at first, allowing cM to grab the first cap. cM made use of the sewers and pulled off several more caps. Soon, NULL pulled off some caps of their own and heald the capture points secure. Near the end of the match, NULL caught on and started to stop our scouts dead in their tracks. NULL had some connection difficulties, losing a player here and there, but they kept up a tough fight. After the smoke had cleared and everyone was just about tired of RUNNING... the score was 15-3. Second round was to be played on NULL's server. Here, cM had quite the ping disadvantage, and it showed, with about a 130 ping difference. NULL gained an 8th player and stated clearly that they planned to fight with all they had; and it showed. NULL had adapted quickly to our strategy and pulled off the first cap. In this match, both clans fought tooth and nail for each cap that was made. NULL's soldiers started mopping the floor with our flag carriers, and every flag that was capped by cM was quickly answered with heavy defense by NULL and a cap of their own. In the end, the score was 5-5. Everything ran smoothly, and NULL were terrific sports. Great game NULL. We had a wonderful time and hope to play you in the future! - [cM]Spoonicus

Sublime Factor ends Reign of Terror
10/2/99 -=- 2fort and Rock2
Round one: 3 - 1
Round two: 1 - 0
Final score: 4 - 1
As neither clan wanted to play Domination, we agreed on 2fort and Rock 2. In the first round both clans had good offense, and both got an early cap. The battle was even until the final 5 minutes when we pulled off 2 desperate caps. Rock2 proved difficult as both clan had great defence. All of the attacks for both sides were stopped early until midgame, when we got a single cap. In the final ten minutes, [R*O*T] made some very heavy attacks, and everyone except me on [SF] went on defence, which proved to be unbreakable as we won 15-0.

Coup de Grace pens up The Wolf Clan
10/2/99 -=- Bam & 2fort -=- [CdG]Fragfire
Round one: 3 - 1
Round two: 9 - 8
Finals score: 12 - 9
WHAT A GAME!!! > Instead of playing the default (Domination) map which we both think sucks for match play, we decided to play Bam on our server and 2fort on theirs. Lets get on with the show shall we. Round 1 was on our server and rather slow moving the whole way through, with CdG scratching out 2 more caps than Wolf. Final of round 1 was CdG 3, Wolf 1.

Now the game of the week, round 2. Wolf came out of the doors flying non stop flights to our flag. alot of that had to do with [Wolf]Stranger and his grubby hands:-p He and his squad got the flag out so many times that Blade and I (me in RW) had to do something to stop them, and fast. They had an 8 - 0 lead folks, something needed changing. Quickly we subbed out one of our highest pingers on offense (Vigilance[CdG]) and we got Postman[CdG] in for him. The come back was about to begin. Blade quickly had our swedish agent Gibbed[CdG] change to pyro and wreak havoc as Blade went spy. Between Blade and the rest of the O they brought out cap after cap tieing the game at 8 a piece. I'm in Roger Wilco as a sub listening to this whole thing, believe me I was on the edge of my seat. The next thing I heard was we got the flag again and it was on its way home. Then I heard Blade scream WOOOHOOOO!! His excitment was due to the fact that we got the 9th cap with 2 or 3 seconds left in the game. Winning round 2 in an unbelievable come back 9 to 8. Total of both rounds 12 - 9. Clan CdG wins. We look forward to playing them again in the bloody battle fields of TFC. AWESOME GAME GUYS!!

Clan ShadowSquadron heats up Team Fusion
10/2/99 -=- 2fort & Rock2
Round one: 4 - 1
Round two: 75 - 15
Final score: (2fort + Rock score? You figure it out...)
This was an interesting match in various ways... at first, CSS feared that we wouldn't have enough people, but our second-stringers showed. To top that off, we were forced to play on the [Tf] server, where they had noticeable ping advantages. Despite this, however, CSS pulled out a victory by a rather large margin. During the first round, on 2fort, there was really very little competition. CSS' offense, led by CSS|Idoncar, kept the Tf defense busy (usually hiding in their respawn from their own spam, I'm afraid). On the other side of the water, Tf managed to cap the flag once early on, and afterwards simply continued to be rebuffed. On rock2 a similar situation occured, but slightly more nerve-wracking. In the first ten minutes, Tf capped once, after which they buckled down into an almost complete defensive style of play. This locked us up well into the match, until, near the end, CSS|Shit Stik and CSS|Idoncar once again managed to pull out an impressive victory. Good game. --==[ CSS|Syrion ]==--

[OGzr] battle [px-SFD] in wierd tag match #2
10/1/99 -=- OGL TFC -=- Fortsaken, Rock2
Round one: 0 - 2
Round two: 30 - 120
Final score: [px-SFD] wins
The first game was started a little late, the geezers were having trouble climbing the stairs into the arena, but [px-SFD] was more then kind enough to wait. We played on the [px-SFD] server, where pings were comparable. During pre-match for game one it was agreed all three games would be played on the [px-SFD] server. Game one was Fortsaken. It started out fast and furious with both teams sending large squads of both fast and slow players. The offense of the Geezers had a little trouble keeping it together vs. the [px-SFD] defense, but managed to penetrate to the flag a couple times. It should be known that the [px-SFD] defense for fortsaken is formidable. While the Geezer offense was hitting a brick wall, the [px-SFD] offense was hitting an adobe wall, and managed to punch a couple holes in it. Two to be exact. [px-SFD] ended on top of this game by a score of 20-0. - Mr.McFeely

Game two was rock2. [px-SFD] drew first blood on this map, along with second, third, on up to eighth blood, while keeping the geezers scoreless. Neither the Geezers offense nor their defense had what it took to take on [px-SFD] on this map. It was only in the last few minutes that the Geezers managed to pull out two quick gas attacks to bring the final score to 120-30 with [px-SFD] winning. The Geezers would like that thank Clan Project X for being patient as we slowly filed into the game. Also for hosting the match on their server. We look forward to the possibility of playing against [px-SFD] again in the future. [OGzr]Mr.McFeely

Dice chops up Mind over Matter
9/26/99, OGL Ladder, 2forts and Well
Round One: 12-0
Round Two: 9-2

The first round was 2fort on our server (in Sweden) where Dice fakelagged to approximately 200 (to reduce our homeserver advantage). mom's ping hovered around 300 giving us some advantage. mOm turned up two players short on our server so we gave them 15 minutes to find some more players. The round started off with 7 vs 7, but we soon gained one player and one mOm player dropped.

Our offence had some difficulties for a while until we moved up one player from defence. Short story: we started capping while our defence kept them from touching our flag. 6 vs 8 with a ping disadvantage is just too hard. :)
The round ended 120 - 0 to Dice.

Over to mOm's Celery Farm server for Well, where mOm fakelagged to approximately 200 and Dice hovered around 300. mOm had gathered one additional player, bringing them to 7. Dice played 8. The round started off slowly with both teams getting 2 quick caps each. After that the Dice defence decided that mOm weren't getting any more. Our offence kept the pressure up and continued capping. Round ended 90 - 20 to Dice.

I think fakelagging worked out very well when playing a transatlantic game, and I hope anyone playing us agrees to it in the future! Otherwise the difference between home team and visitors is just too great.

Dice would like to thank mOm for a good game. You are good sports and I hope we can play you again some day!

100k.devil.legion scares clan Maylstryx
9/26/99, IGL, Darkness
Round One: 20-4
Round Two: 6-12
Final Score: 26-16

Thanks first to cM for being patient while we got our server .cfg up and running. We were slightly unprepared to use the server for the match, but after it was up, it was chuggin away and ready for 18 players.

Both maps found 100kdl in posession of a ping advantage, but nothing lanworthy. We also found ourselves without our normal starting lineup, so after some quick adjustments, (read soldier becoming neer) the match began.

Rd1,each clan busted out of their bases early in a rush to get into the opposing base and catch the defense off guard, but both sides thwarted any quick caps, and it turned into an effort to exploit the defensive weaknesses of each side. After much ruff and tumble, 100kdl was able to muster a couple of caps before cM answered with one of their own. They beatup our defense with all they had and I really felt sorry for the neers on either team..it must have seemed an effort in futility building the guns over and over just to have them blown up every 20 seconds. 100kdl took advantage of the "architectural differences" of the opposing side this map and came ahead 20-4.

Rd2, again an early rush thwarted by determined defense. 100kdl had 2 people drop due to other commitments (work, parents pissed off.doesn't that suck?) So it was 9/7 in favor of cM. 100kdl opted to keep a solid d and let a depleted offense rely on the concs to get them a few. In the early minutes, the score had cM up by a cap but they started turning up the heat and pulled ahead even more. 100kdl got into the zone about half way through when we had one of our members that wasn't scheduled to play look at the server and upon seeing we were down, jumped on in and helped out our offense. (thx again Shao) So with another one taking the heat on offense, we pulled out a couple more caps, and had another in our base at match end. It wasn't enough, however, as the persistent cM took this map 12-6.

Thanks for the fun time cM; as always you were a tough competitor. We look forward to our next match with you.

Aggression Rangers comeback on Uranium 238
9/26/99, IGL, Darkness
Round One: 6-19
Round Two: 18-4
Final Score: 24-23

The first match between =AR= and U-238 may not have been a classic but it was a memorable one. Only on Darkness will a match such as this one occur.

First round was hosted by U-238 and as the higher ranking clan they chose server and color, going with Blue the 1st round. =AR= knew U-238 had skilz, and once we got a glimpse of a couple of those sub 50 pings we knew we were in for it. The doors went down quickly at both bases and the rush was on. U-238 sent their MASH unit on the attack and it wasn't long before they had the 1st cap, and another, and another. In the meantime the =AR= attack was being stuffed by a tough U-238 defense. The U-238 medics were coming in from every entrance possible and were making some very nice conc jumps to and from the =AR= flag. =AR= didn't get a cap until about 10 minutes into the round while U-238 continued to move the red flag and score. With about a minute to go Stealth=AR= grabbed the blue flag and brought it home for what turned out to be a very important 3rd cap. 1st round ended 19-6 in favor of U-238.

Over the break =AR= got together in a discussion that was devoid of second guessing and critism. Though we wouldn't have a ping advantage on =AR= Citadel we felt things would be much more even. We also knew that U-238 would have trouble capping the blue flag. The question was, could we make up a 13 point deficit? The second round started slowly as both teams put up a stubborn defense. About 10 minutes into the round with the defense holding =AR= sent an extra attacker to chip away at the red defense. Finally the dam that was the U-238 defense cracked and the caps began to flow from the red base. With just a couple minutes to go =AR= moved into the lead by a point and of course a U-238 scout moved the blue flag to the floor before being mowed down. If U-238 gets the flag out the door we know it is capped and the match is lost. After getting beat up the 1st round the =AR= defense was not going to blow it now. For a crazy minute the flag was touched but was still in the flag room (barely) as time ran out.

U-238 is a relatively new clan but they know what it is about. They played a great match and will make their mark in IGL. Good game guys.

The Kollektiv keeps tabs on Mind over Matter
9/26/99, IGL, Darkness
Round One: 12-0
Round Two: 52-9
Final Score: 64-9

Another day of Darkness, Kollektiv meet up with Mind over Matter for some TFC action tonight.

Mind over Matter came on with only 6 players at the beginning, everything was ok with them so the match proceeded; but then again Kollektiv was missing their "Lone Spy" as well so they were not up to par as well. Round 1 started on Kollektiv's MSG server, well after a minor server burp thing got going. Kollektiv broke through the barriers early and was knocking on mOm's door when the 60 seconds was over. Mind over Matter had a few difficulties with Kollektiv's defense and was unable to do much with the flag except touch the flag and move it a couple paces. Kollektiv on the other hand was able to get the flag through mOm's defense for 6 caps total. Round ended with Kollektiv 12, mOm 0.

After a 15 minute break, Kollektiv joined back up with mOm on their Celery Farm server. This time mOm was sporting a full team, seems some of their players were slightly late to this evenings event. Kollektiv was looking forward to the round since mOm was sporting a full team this time. A few minor problems were had at the beginning, but of course I haven't been in a match yet were there weren't problems at the beginning. mOm was able to iron out the glitches and get the match a rolling. Kollektiv had taken the break to change their roster, all the members had practiced this week and everyone was dying to play. Kollektiv was once again was waiting to great mOm at their base. Kollektiv quickly moved into mOm's base and began moving the flag early, while mOm still was having difficulties with Kollektiv's defense. However mOm was able to pull of some caps for this round, totaling 5 caps. Kollektiv battered mOm's defense coming out with a total of 26 caps for the round.

Kollektiv would like to thank mOm for a great game and good sportsmanship!

Good luck in you future mOm!

Clan Erinyes resists Coup de Grace
9/26/99, IGL, Darkness
Round One: 30-8
Round Two: 12-8
Final Score: 42-16

RD 1 was on TMAL where CE sported a ping advantage. The rd got started with both clans taking down the barriers early and making a run for the flag, both offenses being stopped in their tracks. Eventually the CE offense struck pay dirt, but some creative spying by Blade from CdG pulled our flag loose also. The rd went on both clans exchanging caps with the CE offense pulling more out on the CdG defense. Rd ended CE up at 30-8.

RD 2 moved to CdG's military complex where pings were about equal. Again, the doors came down early, but the CdG offense was the first to make head way and get a cap. CdG was able to pull out 2 caps prior to the CE offense getting into gear and catching up. At around the 15-20 minute mark the CE offense finally made up the deficit and had a tie at 6-6 and the CE defense was holding the CdG offense at bay. The rd ended with CE up 12-8.

Final Score 42-16 CE, this was our first meeting with CdG in TFC and we look forward to playing them again in the future.

Kindred tops NULL
9/26/99, IGL, Darkness
Round One: 59-4
Round Two: 12-2
Final Score: 71-6

Well another day on Darkness.

Both rounds went with out a hitch. R1 was played on the KiN server with Kindred having a slight ping advantage here. R2 was played on the ever popular MSG server. Pings were pretty even with Null having a slight difference, but both teams had pretty even pings here. With one minor difference - 1/2 speed on the MSG server. But thats a whole other issue.

R1 had the Kindred machine well oiled and reader to fire up. HW's tearing down the door at the start, letting the KiN Air Force fly in with Cab, Kablooie, Sueto, and Navy. first cap was slow but after kiN got the move on it was all speed taking over this game. The KiN D let a few by by but held off everything including the monster burrito.

R2 had a little twist - 1/2 speed. This is not Null's issue, just happened that the server we played on has this 1/2 speed thingy... but needless to say this match was well played. Null came out blazing form thier top deck and stormed on to the offense as we were waiting on them to open the doors. Thier D pounded KiN on the inside putting a wrench in the KiN machine. The Null offense came at our D hard and had them running all over making incoming calls. Strier directed traffice out front defying many a scout. While Zang, Gear, Cynergy held up thier rocket launchers high letting very few se the light of the flag. Deride built many a gun this round, hence he shall get the Mr.Magoo award :P while managing to get in the way (we lub joo Deride).

-Rant Here-
Half Speed does not need to be in Half Life. It makes it Half Fun. although this is an opinion of my own, it has nothing to do with Null. I want to make this clear - Null had nothing to do with Half Speed - nothing, it was not a cheat, or some cheap way to slow us down. it was part of the game and we played it. Null had nothing to do with it.
-End Rant-

GG to ALL!

WOLF goes full speed past CompWorld Frag Force
9/26/99, IGL, Darkness
Round One: 35-2
Round Two: 16-8
Final Score: 51-10

Well there was no problem this week about what version the teams should use. so everything went smoothly! woo! anyways! Round one started on WOLF's hunting grounds. WOLF had a couple people in the LAN Party we were co-hosting so their pings were.... well, lets say, the lowest ive ever seen around! Other than that, CWFF's pings were almost the same of the ones who wernt at the party. Once the map restarted WOLF was able to break the door down before CWFF did, once that happend our scouts poured into their base and soon after poured out with the flag. Have you ever crushed a spider when it had its babbies on its back? Well, if so - their offence sorta looked like that. Once their door was down a swarm of scouts and soldiers poured out. WOLF defence was able to contain them when they got near to our base. CWFF's offence was unable to make anything happen, a few touches here and there but nothing to serious. WOLF's offence had a tough time getting CWFF's senturies down. But once they were gone one of our scouts flew outta their flag room and took it in for 2. It was a really good match actually. Even though I, [WOLF]Vr_, had a bad concussion jump and scored 1 point (DOH!!!). I just laugehd about it. But both teams did a great job of getting the flag and capping it. Final Score for Round 1: 35-2

Second round was on CWFF's server. Some WOLF had troble getting in but once everyone was there the round started. Once again, WOLF was able to take the DOOR down before prematch ended. Soon followed CWFF's door. WOLF's offence charged the red base and [WOLF]Vr_ was able to get the flag 10-15 seconds before prematch ended. A couple caps followed after that by [WOLF]Zeus and great playing by [WOLF]Hummer to get thoes guns out. CWFF's offence seemed to step things up for this round. Sneaking the flag out 4 times to make their score up to 8 points. They did a really good job of throwing our defence off and did a really great job of getting the flag in tough situations. WOLF's offence had a hard time touching the flag. There were demos, sentury guns, and in some cases, soldiers waiting for us. we were able to make things happen though, running the flag out 8 time to make up for the ones we lost. Final Score for Round 2: 16-8

CWFF is a really great clan, i remember playing them sometime before and even then they were great sportsmen. Im looking forward to playing them again - no matter what map.. its always fun! Great game CWFF! Good luck in the future!

Brotherhood of Soldiers stops Digital Resurrection
9/26/99, IGL, Darkness
Round One: 44-28
Round Two: 22-28
Final Score: 66-56

Well round 1 began on our beutiful VA Tech server where pings went slightly in favor of DiRe. We had a little trouble setting her up correctly as the IGL server config was inaccessible (might wanna fix that) but eventually we got started. BoS poured down on DiRe's D with everything we had knowing that our round as blue was where we needed to score the bulk of our points. We quickly gained a fairly large lead however toward the end DiRe solidified their D and began to come back. But not soon enough and the round ended 44-28, BoS.

Round 2 was played on DiRe's Volcano Halflife server where this time the pings were slightly in our favor. As red we could only hope to spam like hell and pray they didnt get ahead by 16 :) Well maybe we put a little more into it but this round was DiRe's. They battled with us for the lead for quite some time before they shut down our O and took the lead. But once again it was just too late and the round ended. 22-28, DiRe.

We would like to thank DiRe who were GREAT sports and displayed INCREDIBLE patience while we set up our server for round 1. They are a cool bunch of guys and we wish them luck in the future.

CARTHAGO DELENDA EST!

Think Right or Die kills Lethal Assault
9/26/99, OGL Ladder, 2forts and Canalzone
Round One: 3-0
Round Two: 211-60

This was the first test we've had, and it was nice to get the guys to feel a hard fought clan match.

And our hard work paid off. We tweaked all our strats, started using RW, and the match couldn't have gone any better on our end. Anyway on to the news!

RD 1 was 2Fort played on our server. Pings were in our favor, but very playable. All I have to say is WOW! to our defense on this map. They didn't even get a touch. And maybe made it to the basement 2-3 times max. Nice Job! On offense, we got a quick cap. Then [LA] Shut the door for a long time. After some regrouping, (Man I love RW) we started exploiting a hole we found in their defense and brought home 2 very, very hard earned caps.
We win 3-0

RD2 was CZ2 on our server, and pings were the same as RD1. We did a very good job with a brand new strat on this map. Capped all points many times. Defense did a great job of defending CPs, and offense was unstoppable doing their cannonball act.
We win 211-60

Don't let the scores fool you, [LA] is a tough clan. They gave us a big run for the money, but we prepared hard and it showed.
GG [LA] and Good Luck.

WOLF pays off Assassins For Hire
9/25/99, TGL, Fortsaken
Round One: 3-0
Round Two: 15-0
Final Score: 18-0

I never thought that playing Fortsaken (or is it Fortsake? i dunno.) could be this fun! Well, onto the writeup!

This was one of TGL's title rounds.
Round 1 started on WOLF's Hunting Grounds server. We agreed to start the match a little bit later then scheduled so that we can check out pings and stuff like that. Once prematch ended both sides offence went at it. Luckly for WOLF's defence - our Engee's got the guns up pretty quickly and were able to stup the scouts and medics run. While on the other side, WOLF's offence got a touch and was able to take it home for the cap. AFH had a really good defence setup, it gave our offence a little bit of troble but once WOLF got in the groove of things there was no stopping us. AFH's offence had a couple touches at WOLF's flag but was unable to take it a couple feet from the flag point to make anything happen. Hats off to WOLF's defence for the outstanding round! Round 1 Score: 30-0, [WOLF] Wins.
After a 10-15 min break to use the bathroom or do whatever we do when the 1st round ends, we headed off to AFH's t3 server. Pings were fair and both sides had about the same Lac. A few packet loss surges here and there but nothing to big. AFH's players were in the server already while WOLF's offence had some troble connecting. Password and IP sorta stuff.... Once everyone was in and prematch ended, both sides went at it again. It was almost like playing round 1 all over again. AFH's Offence came right out and right away got a quick tough at WOLF's flag. They didnt get that far with once our defence setup. On the other side, WOLF got off to a quick start, getting the flag and capping it a couple times in the 1st 5 mins. WOLF's defence did a really great job of defending the flag but they got a little bored back there. So we decided to switch it up a bit and make it interesting. WOLF sent almost the whole defence side making the Offence count to about 6-7 players. It was very intresting actually, but i got a kick outta it. AFH's defence did a really great job of stopping WOLF's offence, i think they got what was going on and they moved almost eveyone back to defence. A few were down in the tunnel playing with that train thing or whatever it is... shrug.. Other than that, AFH's Demo's and HW's did a awesome job at stopping our scouts and medics. At a point they had 3 or 4 guns up to level 3, that was a challenge, but it wasnt enough to stop WOLF from getting the flag. Round 2 Score: 150-0 [WOLF] Wins

AFH is a great clan! Didnt have an attitude and they were really cool when our playes couldnt get in. I wouldnt mind playing them again! They put up a really great fight and they gave it all they got untill the end! Good game AFH!

Coup de Grace hears Stealth Assassins
9/25/99, TGL, Fortsaken
Round One: 7-1
Round Two: 17-0
Final Score: 24-1

We played both rounds on our server. Round 1 started off even steven, we capped they capped. We would get some touches on their flag but that was it for about 10 minutes, then ShadowRunner kicked it up a notch and started getting the flag out. SA's spy or spies we're a royal pain in the gas. Gas + tunnel = the 1970's hehe, sorry.

SA got touches on our flag but were'nt able to get it home after their first cap. We pulled out 7 total that round to their 1.

On to round 2. I didn't play this round but here's what I was told by Blade. They unfortunately only had 5 people when the match started and I noticed 6 of them some time after the game started. As I understand, it was a mess. 17 caps to 0. But even though SA only had 6 people, they played the match and tried anyways. My hats off to them, and we look forward to playing them in the future. This game is soooo much fun huh? well except for them damn overpowered MIRV bomblets that look like giblets :-þ
